This is a very good point to note for all of you NoOb men-to-be.
One act of heroism such as this can set you up for your entire teenaged years' quest.
Being the "Nice" guy has some very lucrative rewards.
Granted, my professional life sucks....and I have like 20 magazine subscriptions I don't want and all of my power tools are now in other peoples garages.
*sigh*
Maybe I need to rethink this "Nice" guy thing.

No. You're spot-on.
At his age the "nice-guy" card played correctly can put him on "easy-street" in the chick department. But at our age, the "nice-guy" act is more likely to earn you the "male-friend-who's-good-for-advice-about-my-jerk-boyfriends-and-good-for-sympathy-but-might-as-well-be-homosexual" status for a nice female.
*sigh* If I only knew then what I know now.... I would have been spared a ton of neuroses. I swear, youth is wasted on the young.

Wow, i would have sued, i seriously doubt your parents or u signed a waiver about being abused. Yep sue sue sue! and have the school board terminate the istructors career as well as the principal. Not one school official would want bad press like that.

It was an old school built in the 1920's. The gym was divided by huge solid wood folding doors. Well at one point between the "folds" there was this crack. We as young horny teenage boys could look through this crack right into the girl's locker room.
The down side was if the gym teacher saw us doing that you recieved a SWAT.
Yes...these were the days of SWATS. Nothing like being told to grab your ankles with only your gym shorts as "armor". (We also had to wear jock straps..no protecton there) That SWAT from the gym teacher really really HURT! You took this SWAT and did your level best not to show any pain. If you cried....that was worst then the SWAT. No one let you forget that!
Fun times....

Back then it was more commonplace. If you ask me, I think we've become a nation of PC wimps. I think we should bring back the switch - builds character.

We're men. Which, by definition, means you're naturally either a pervert, homosexual or both. Not so difficult to understand.

Yay for relationships.
Too bad being a nice-guy gets you nowhere in them. At least from my experiences, anyways.

When you get older - "nice guys" get a handshake and a peck on the cheek.

im 75/25 % on this.....if you are straight with a woman, tell exactly what you want and what you expect and what youre looking for...they will tell you 100% of the time yes or no. but if you lolly gag and wander off the path and into "lets be friends forrest" then you are doing something wrong....75 percent of the time you will hit the mark one way or the other, but even if you get alot of "go to hells" you can move on...and thank the girl for not wasting your time or her own. the other 25 percent of the time you spend on working REALLY hard for that first kiss from that one girl who has set you on fire...either way if you are a no bulls#!t kinda guy, IMO, the girl appreciates the honesty, and if you poll women the number one quality (outside of the sack) they look for in a "friend" is honesty.
just my 0.02

Of course, if the "nice-guy" approach crashes and burns, there's always MUSTANG RANCH just outside of Las Vegas (or was it Reno-anyway somewhere in Nevada)

Geez, I got a model-esque wife by playing the nice guy card. I figure, if you're a nice guy at heart, start early and treat her like a princess, it'll get you VERY far. This doesn't mean pampering her all the way to the altar -- that just leads to false expectations and divorce down the road -- but show real interest in her and be her knight; she'll adore you. This works on pretty much any girl that's "worth it."
IMHO, girls that are looking for the "James Dean bad guy" are just looking for adventure and fun. Nice guys typically focus on being a psychotherapist and lose tons of points for not following through and showing her how to have real fun and stay safe with her guy.
Nice guys out there: be a gentleman, respect her, but take risks and show her some adventure too. Can't lose with that combo.

Of course you're right.
Most of us (hopefully) are only joking about the "nice guy" thing. Insincerity can certainly get you laid often, but, if you're acting like anyone but yourself, you'll never have something that has a chance of lasting or growing. And, in the end, a relationship that begins in sincerity and trust is the only key to long term happiness.
I shed my "bad boy" phase when I was young. When you don't need to prove anything anymore is when you become a man. My last relationship was also with a "model-esque" type (actually a lingerie model) for about 4 years. Not that her looks were all that mattered - it's just that we were ourselves with each other and laughed more together than with anyone else.
It was all in good fun. Respect yourself and the people around you - that, in itself, goes a long way.

I guess I should clarify. My wife could easily be a model; her sister was one for a while. Our daughters, ages 3 and 5, have also been scouted and may become models soon. I'm very protective of them, so we'll see how far it goes. (Read: I won't let them become targets for a lech, and I'll intervene if I see them becoming too conceited as well.)
I count my blessings that she adores me, tho' most days I wonder why. She's only ever wanted to be a mom and wife, so -- get ready for it -- she loves to stay home, fix my meals, and keep the house clean. And she's hot. What did I do so incredibly right?
Oh, yeah, I remember. I talked to her, helped her with her problems, encouraged her when she was down, and helped her have some fun and excitement along the way. I was a nice guy.
That isn't all of it, but you get the drift. Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) put it so succinctly in "X2" when she said:
Jean: Girls flirt with the dangerous guy, they don't bring him home. They marry the good guy.
Logan: I can be the good guy...
Jean: Logan, the good guy sticks around.
'Nuff said.
