Games are for anyone who enjoys having fun. No law says when you reach a certain age you have to become "an old fogey"
While I understand not all 12 year olds are immature, many are simply because that is normal at that stage of development.
A grammatically correct and well thought out post that wasn't hypocritical could have proved your point most excellently. Instead we have this mess of a thread

Gee whiz, give the kid a break.
Seriously, though it seems to be the modus operandi for a lot of those responding, I don't think adding insult to injury is the answer here. (Nor does it help anyone.)
I do think that the OP has a valid point. Think about it, we are all gung ho about stopping or banning players who use racial slurs or demeaning sexual explicatives and such, but we fail to recognize the fact that when you call someone a 12 year old as an insult, the people you are actually insulting are the real 12 year old players.
I'm betting that the OP was made to feel foolish or was embarrassed by someone in game. Probably for doing something that he though was funny, but someone else didn't. Maybe he will enlighten us to the events that led him to post what he did. Then we can actually give some constructive feedback.

If you really think that only children should play games. this industry would be dead overnight. for one main reason. kids have zero money. The majority of gaming is done by the 18-24 demographic... and 24-35 is the next major demographic for attraction. why? cause they have MONEY to spend. the under 18 market is not a major attractant. Though lucrative at times cause of constant annoyances for children on parental units for a game title, it is not a primary drive behind game developers motives. What they want is the just working, just out of highschool, and college aged consumers. these people have both the time and the money to sink into long periods of time playing a game as a distraction. PC games are often a substitute for other quality entertainment. As Tv used to be. Now with the networks failing drastically to produce anything of quality EVER, is it any wonder the gaming online worlds are benefiting from this?
