All games have what ppl call "the idiots".

you cannot escape it, and "kids" arent the only ones that act stupid in games, some adults do that too.

To OP: It was just great timing that you played WoW at that time and met some really nice ppl, you will just be lucky if you dont ever meet "the idiots" in WoW.

*I would not sum up an entire game's greatness with it's community, because there will always be the good, the bad, and the ugly in all (types of ) games.
It's a given.

Idiots are everywhere. We need to understand what attracts them, and then stay away from said thing.

I think it's because Guild Wars is new and free monthly. Over time, less and less idiots will join and they'll all go play newer games (a product of a short attention span

)

even if it is new and free, if a person's main intention ingame was to "grief" ppl, they will soon quickly find out that they will be blacklisted by alot of ppl, get bored, discovered that they wasted their $50, and leave the game anyways.
It will just be a matter of time.

on a positive note, most of these idiots WILL get bored with an intelligent game like GW and move on to something else....just give it time.

You know, I played WoW for a while and all I have to say is... What the HELL is this? Why are people flocking to WoW and saying it's the best? Not once have I felt "Man, I wish I could be playing WoW right now.." The game just does not flow. The content is not there, the gameplay is not there. You can't even really customize your charictor's atributes. The socity sucks - nothing but kids. No matter where I go, I hear nothing but blabbering about how "elves are hot".

With that aside, I hoesntly don't see why people play that game so much. It just.... Blows. Now for Guild Wars. Thats actualy a game I got addicted to. I don't know why either. However, there is a BIG flaw. Content. As soon as you hit level 20, you reach a point where you say "Okay.. Now what." If the next GW installment has a nice content bonus (Higher levels, more things to do) you'd better belive I'm gonna be playing again.

Untill then, WoW sucks, GW is fun but the fun ends eventualy.

It's been a feature of human nature for yonks.....if you want to discourage the riff-raff, charge a fee.

Of course, there are exceptions and WoW has its idiots too. Having played WoW, Eve-Online and EQII, trust me, if you look hard enough you will find some pretty lame people there too

Personally though, I'm happy with the no monthly fee. I'd have a serious problem with a fee in this game. Its not the same as traditional MMOs. A serious lack of items, crafting etc doesn't lend itself to a long term timesink to justify a monthly sub imo...

Every game will have idiots they are always thee and will always be there. In guild wars there are more than in WoW but you can put up with them easy all you have to do is turn off chat.

Yeah you gotta figure mom and dad won't be so opposed to FREE online gaming as a baby sitter for their 8 to 10 year old child that they don't want to spend time with. Personally I don't have a problem with the antics that goes on, it's just words, and if you let words bother you then that's really "your" fault not the perpatrator. If I got mad everytime someone called me a name or said something ethnic, sexual, etc. etc. I'd be mad all the time. lol The only thing that ever bothers me is "physical pain". Now that I will take offence too.

The freedom to be chaotic sometimes is fun, maybe some need to lighten up an try it sometime. Instead of feeling insulted because someone calls you a noob or idiot or ghey or whatever, just be chaotic back, what does it really hurt? Crying to mama or the devs I don't believe is doing a thing, cause we all know we see it everyday and if you keep a list of names in your friends list even from the same people, so A-Net isn't really policing any of that. They seem to be more concerned with botters. We had a ball the other night just going through all the classes and telling how much they suked. It was just to pass the boredom, something to do and many joined in for each new class brought up. This can be a stress reliever for some and I guess cause stress for others who don't know how to unwind, let yourself go, be open as heck and just don't let stuff bother you in a "game".

Now those that grief groups by joining up and then quitting when the mission starts, well yeah those are a real pain, especailly in the 4x4 random arenas. But, even that it only takes a second yourself to escape out of it and get in another group within 28 seconds. Those that join for skill capping and quit when they get their skill, yeah those are a pain also, but, nothing you can do about it, so why worry about it? Those that don't listen and run like a chicken with their head cut off full flight into a bunch of mobs and pull them back on you, yeah those are a pain as well, but, no other recourse but to start over and kick that person. Just common sense and yes some wasted time, but, hardly that much of that really happens on a constant basis. Oh and don't let me forget the running chickenchit rangers, those that have no rez ability who just run around the arena being annoying. I just take a build I'm sure to stop that from happening now, so thas not even a biggie now, in fact I rather enjoy them running now, cause I know when they stop they are MINE and will never escape me. hehe

Every game as morons....that is the reoccuring point most people are saying. As for morons, idiots, and the proverbial rabble of the gaming community, i don't think there is anyway to get a game without them. monthly fees or not. Whether one has more or not, I do not know. from the short time i played WoW (until i got sick of it and went back to playing GW for the 8 hrs a day after work but before sleep) i found alot of the people there similar. I really think that monthly fee or no, that there is darn little difference. Of course from my little exposure i could be wrong and most of the WoW community spend their offline time sitting in plush armchairs with a snifter glass of aged brandy discussing Postmodernist philosophy and its effect on a neo-libraterian viewpoint.....or looking at porn and sharing it with friends....but from the commentary i heard on the channel.....i would say the latter.

to recap, as long as there is a game where i don't get your full name, street address and a list of your fears when i accept the group invite, there will always be people no matter monthly fee or not who cause grief and act like morons, probably just because they can. I am not singling out an age group, because i know some grown adults who do it too

The only solution against idiots in GW I know of, is to turn off Local Chat, the Trade chat (and emotes for spam). Should some idiot whisper you, put him on your ignore list. You can take him off your list after a day or two, they'll most likely have forgotten about you.

Though you're virtually helpless against idiots while doing a mission. They can ruin everything if they want to. Spam relentlessly, aggro every mob and bring them to your party, etc...

It's been said before, but: Idiots will always be there, whether it's GuildWars or World of Warcraft. The monthly fee will make it less attractive for only a range of players (that includes non-idiots, sadly) and will not prevent idiots from playing the game.

If they're really a jackass, you can always try to report them.

good point, but if i had to say some things that are better in wow than GW, i would talk about level caps, and the array if items one can obtain. level 20 skill cap is just too low, i can get to level 20 in 2 days, and the items in GW are basically all the same, the only thing that really makes a difference in a weapons price are their looks.

I've played both WoW and GW for sometime now, I've reached "end-game" in both, and I have this to say.

Based on my experience, the WoW community is definately better. I only have about 7 people on my ignore list, and my GW ignore list has stretched into the 40s...

What Blizzard does about hacks? I haven't seen anything myself, but there've been rumors that Blizzard bans people if they think that people have been hacking/botting/etc. Where-as here, I see spam bots and farm bots run amock.

The PvP here and the PvP in WoW are satisfactory, both has it's flaws, and both can be enjoyed. The PvP in WoW, however, is just one, grand war, raids happening in many villages at once, and in the Battleground instanced area, it's all out 40V40 war. Pretty damn fun. The PvP, in GW, is organized, calculated, and balanced.

The story-line in WoW, however, is disgusting. There is hardly anything that can be called "main story mission". It's just an endless grind-fest with the illusion that you are actually a soldier fighting the war. GW's story-line, is nice, yet makes no sense at some points. :P

Which would I play? Well, each will, I repeat, will get boring in one point or another. I've moved from FFXi, to WoW, and now, I'm here. The past two, I've quit, because, yes, they've gotten boring. I'm sure I will quit GW in at one point, I just haven't reached it yet. If I were you, I'd play both. :P

Which is better? There is no "better". Both is worth playing, and trying.
