I've never met anyone IRL I've met online but I've still had relationships with people, both romantic and "just friendships." It's been complicated and I am totally on board with everyone else that it is totally hit or miss.... I've been with "the crazy control-freak who cuts herself" and the "sweet, innocent gal looking to meet someone." Just as in face-to-face relationships, the people you meet are not always as you see them to be at first (both in good and bad ways).
I was stupid when I was younger though (thirteen! Quite young to start dating "seriously"). I would often rush into meaningless little get togethers with some gal and do things. Things would often become over-dramatized and I would be crushed when things went down hill. This has changed though... I'm older now (thank goodness) and luckily have learned that diving head-long into relationships is defintely not a good way to establish a stable connection. While all these romantic relationships have ended (some smoothly, some not so smoothly  ), I still am thankful for all that I've learned so that I can not make the stupid mistakes I did in the past (I.E. "hooking up" with someone on Palace [an avatar chat program], cybering, and then forgetting their name the next day..... Man! Talk about stupid! Makes me feel like a pig, lol...)When it comes to non-romantic relationships, yeh, I've had a ton of those too, almost all from gaming and almost all from clans. I've been with a group I met during my OFP days and have been playing many other games with them for about 3+ years. We even are playing Guild Wars, now! (Go team Fire Truck! lmao) Anyway. Enough rambling. Good discussion.... Anxious to see what else people have to say  - Kyo (First post on gwg!) |

i've met a few people that i've known through the internet.
the most recent one was a girl in montreal. we knew each other pretty well and we talked to each other everyday, sometimes totaling up to 8 hours a day. but when i met her, she was extremely shy and silent around me. and when i only had around 30 minutes left to hang out with her she finally starts warming up. kinda sucks that i had to go just when it started getting better. oh well, i'll be visiting her again soon... hopefully. never had a bf/gf relationship online though... i just don't get how that works |
