Oh believe me, it CAN impale a coke can. All you need to use is a slightly better bic pen with the metal think that's on the top, clamp it to pen (Just use pliers or something) and it will work wonders. The problem with this homemade tool is that the projectile (the pen) is poorly weighted at the front and it starts out with alot of speed then it will become almost useless after 5 feet or so of airtime.

A piece of folded up paper and rubber-band works woders for that. remembers many wasted science lessons - the teacher never seemed to notice the piles of paper projectiles all over the floor.
