I think it would be a tad bit ignorant to simply discard the existence of Vampires. Here's a few reasons why you should leave the possibility open:
1. Vampires are stereotypically associated with the Occult, which they are in fact not a part of the Occult. That's because the Occult is nothing more than a way of saying "that which is hidden from our eyes." It has nothing to do with mass-suicides, which would be considered by most as participation in a "Cult."
2. Vampires get a really bad rap on TV, Magazines, Movies, et cetera. This leads to the stereotype that the existence of Vampires would create a negative impact on society, and therefore should be shunned.
3. My mind has been opened. Not through drugs, of course, but because of my understanding of quantum electrodynamics (QED) and quantum field theory (QFT). The universe is the sum of an infinite number of probabilities. It's a discombobulation of... well... everything, yet has the property of chaotic order. For example. You might have learned that light travels in straight lines. In truth, it does not. It travels in every direction, but for some reason light likes the shortest path (when going in larger quantities of photons, that is) and so we end up with the fact that a straight line is the best probability. But it's not the only.
4. To really twist your mind, think of Schröndingers Cat, the half-dead, half-alive cat.
So the truth is, to simply close your mind to the chance that they might exist is to throw away all notions of existence itself, as we know them.
On a side note, Vampires exist because they are cool.
And no, I haven't ever drank blood before.
-zehly
PS. If you'd like to discuss QED or QFT with me some time, PM me, and I can tell you some things that are undeniable, but will make your brain do sommersaults.

Now I remember! You were the one who mentioned Fast Fourier Transforms in another post - LOL.
As often as one explains the implications of basic quantum mechanical principles it's hard to convey the elegance and scope of it all without delving into the mathematics. There's the rub.
But I love the stuff, too.
But this is the best argument of all for the existance of vampires: "Vampires exist because they are cool."

I'm not quite sure how Schrondinger's Cat plays into a discussion of the Occult... unless you're saying that the existence of Occult phenomenon could be somehow proven by science, but we simply lack the means to do so. But then it wouldn' be Occult anymore would it, since it wouldn't be "hidden".

Regardless... "Vampires exist because they are cool."

Vampires suck. I own them easily in Castlevania, thus vampires aren't cool.

There are cool things about being a vampire AFAICT (as far as I can tell, from what I see on TV etc) like being super strong, hard to kill, immortal, the night life, etc etc. And geeks are often pale, anemic, shivel up and die in the sunlight etc etc LOL. The problem with vampires is they drink human blood. They kill people. Not cool. The other aspects of vampirism seem to be no big deal. But killing people and drinking their blood - wrong wrong wrong.

The occult is nothing to take lightly, mass suicides and murrder are nothing to joke about.
Vampires do NOT exist. They are people that watched too many horror shows when they where growing up. End of story.

not necesarily. but words like those above are usually said either by those who know nothing of the occult, only know what is portrayed on tv or what has been preached to them by____________ some one....which why it was implied that some how the occult and mass murder are some how connected.
any way to stay on topic, it would seem difficult to discuss this topic without making any allusions to some relgion or other as the "occult" appears to be tied in to so many. so hows this, can anyone tell us the difference between and waning moon and a waxing moon and what the significance to magick is?

no need. i will not argue with you ...you have your opinion, i have mine. all im saying is what MOST people know of the occult is gleaned from tv and movies and are not qualified to make statements such as anyone who has ties to the occult is a mass murderer....its absurd. my grandmother was a practicing "bruja" (spanish for witch not some lame vampire clan) and didnt kill anyone who didnt deserve it.......lol

Wica is not the Occult, and I asume that bruja is in one way or another some form of Wica.
No matter what the Occults original meaning was things such as the comet insident and Manson have tainted it.The Occult now is more suited to be described as brainwashing (wich is what manson did) and total control over another person.

Say what you will about the Occult, but it's only fair to mention that it is far from the only institution where people gather to do what ultimately is the result of when people gather. That is, commit acts which are reprehensible for their own peace of mind.
The Occult tends to lack qualities that allows it to be easily understood or deemed as necessary as accepted social institutions. Because of that it is harder to condone, especially when something bad happens as a result of it.

Agreed, but it is not a question of whether its aceptable or not. If people are dieing for ones piece of mind then it gos beyond aceptable or not aceptable.
To you above me, I dont need to research for that, and since i know nothing about the other half of the question i chose not to reply on it. God forbid you call me ignorant agin.
