Digging To China (Another Oddity)
http://grad.icmc.usp.br/~cipriani/bighole.php?lang=en
So there's apparently no way to dig a hole straight through the planet and end up in China if you're in North America. In fact, you're more likely to end up somewhere in the Indian Ocean.
Just another potentially interesting web find.

LOL! that rocks! Zoom in on the Uk on the south east and you'll see the towns Chelmsford and Ipswich, where I go clubbing... and zoom in once more and to the left of those you can see my town, Colchester!!!
...omg, zoom in even more and you can see Stanway lol. That's me!
Lol that is nuts, the max zoom for that area brings up London Road.. I'm like three minutes from there. McDonalds is along there! Near the A12 motorway.
Hmmm, it appears that if I start digging I can expect to connect with the sea bed just south of New Zealand.. right? Lol.. this maps' great.
Come on, people! point out where you live!

Just around New York I can see Manchester, Greenwich, Southampton, Guildford, Oxford.. SALISBURY!! That's where Stone Henge is lol.. Norfolk, Coventry.. COLCHESTER?!?!? Oh well.. I mean, even New York was named after our York lol.

Heh, that's funny.
What I've always wondered, though.. Gravity pull you towards the center of the earth. Now let's say you go to the center of the earth (and leave out the fact that you'll suffocate/burn/whatever). Would you be floating? How would gravity work?

Gravity is based on mass and distance, so assuming you're at the center of the earth, and that the earth is a perfect sphere, you'd be unaffected by gravity, as each part of the earth would be pulling on you at an equal force from opposite sides
