They may be ripping off In Flames, but they're still better than the song linked in the orginal post.
I forgot to mention I don't like many rap artists like Ludacris, but Little John cracks me up ye-ayah. And there is some quality rap out there but I'm not really into it so I couldn't quote artists.

this is what i'm talking about. you were listening to ludacris, yet another MTV, mainstream rapper. He doesn't do a good job of representing rap, cause he is no good. There's 10 bad artists for every good one, in ANY genre, for all you pink floyd fanatics

Yet AGAIN what i'm talking about. Feel like I should hold a class teaching people the importance of vocabulary, and how you word things. RAP in and of itself is not a joke, it's not a lesser form of music. You get exposed to something that does a TERRIBLE job of representing the greater whole, and your opinion of it suffers. Thing is, you gotta understand that you weren't faced with the music, the way it should be. You have sheltered yourself by listening to just one artist, or one channel(MTV), and then stating that the entire genre sucks. Not to mention, your selection does a terrible job of representing the whole.
Why don't we hold a poll on what america's favorite type of juice is, then ask only ONE person what their favorite juice is. Should their answer be something like, Orange juice, do we then declare that ALL American's say Orange Juice is the best juice? This is kinda what you're doing with Rap music. Open your minds

You guys gotta get funky with Classical music. Some good shit there man. I'm actually serious.
Ludicrous is cool. Pink Floyd is cool. It's all cool. People sitting on their asses playin GW and debating on forums are... well, doing exactly that. Those people all have talent. Try to rap like Ludicrous, can you do it ? I doubt it. Try to write a song like Roger Waters, bet you can't. They're all talented, you really shouldn't put them down just because your personal preferences don't coincide with someones style of music.

I like Hip-Hop. No, not Rap. Hip-Hop. 'Oldschool.' Why? It actually has traces to R & B, and you can hear music in it.
I also like classical music myself, violins.... Aah, so beutiful.
And electronica/house/trance music. I listen to it mostly, and like to go to clubs to listen to it, rather then a rap concert.
You CAN spell crap without rap, you just spell it badly.

ahh... Pink Floyd. But there is good loud violent music too. Nirvana and Rage Against the Machine are two that I like a lot.
I like how old death metal music videos were always filmed in a factory that only makes sparks.

Yes, kids of today just have no taste in real music.

That album was called the pulse.
I am a floyd fan, a very big floyd fan. I can't really point out a favorite, I have been listening toshine on you crazy diamond as of late.
I love the beatles... easily my favorite band.
In fact, calm music is kind of my dig...
Oh, and to john Q high horse, you can denounce rap all you want, doesn't make it bad... in fact, you have quite a bit of gall to go around saying your taste in music is better than anyone elses. I also don't dig the rap assumptions. I know for a fact there are different tunes than that bling bling jazz you hear on mtv, yet gross generalization takes over your posts. I don't listen to rap and mostly don't enjoy it (Run dmc is just too hard to resist) but I am just saying music is far too subjective for you to go around telling people they are less enlightened than you for listening to whatever type of music. Personally, I hate hair metal and AC/DC with a passion. Does that mean I go around to every kid with a highway to hell T and tell them how stupid they are? Of course not... to each their own people. I don't go around to "hardcore" shows trying to pull kids out of their youthful angst so I can show them the true light that is my taste in music.
Frankly, the only music I can frown upon is the tunes done by those who sing and sing alone. If you do not write your songs, play instruments, and go to image consulting then I think that is truely hollow stupid music.

I with you on that Brother!
I like all forms of music. I just can not honestly say RAP is music.
It is something, but it is not music.....
EDIT: BTW, I like when I am getting on the Freeway ramp and "On the Run" just so happens to be playing on the radio...Great cruising music....

Music must follow musical theory or it is not music. Rap does not follow theory so it cannot be considered music. Rap is extremely organized noise, just like techno.

At least we all agree Rap sucks loads =D
|
Ugh, agreed in some regards, as In Flames hasn't been good since Clayman, after Anders sidelined Jesper's writing and decided they should be Korn. But before then, they were flat out amazing. Now really only Dark Tranquility is left out of the whole Swedish death metal scene (and Soilwork, although they've Americanized). Of course there's still Opeth, (AKA the greatest/most original metal band around presently) is also from Sweden.
The reverse copycat syndrome is amusing, though. All those American bands rip off At the Gates riffs, while a bunch of their European counterparts dumb down their sound to be accepted.

There was music before music theory - like bashing two sticks together. I would call music entertaining sounds. And to some, rap, post-harcore, whatever is music. You can buy it in music stores can't you?
