Exactly, you guys are all talking as if the console and the PC are so much different but these days the consoles is looking mighty close to being a PC. And on the other side of the coin with the "ease" of newer OS plugNplay PCs are looking mighty console like.
The point is there will simply be a convergence at some point where everything is one. And if any engineers want to get with me we can design a machine that fits this bill entirely. Never-the-less, all entertainment will soon be controlled by a central computer whatever we call it console,pc,entertainment center, or HAL 9000

I love it this is exactly it! I have had the hardest time trying to sneak 4 man games of NCAA Football 2005 in the cube farms at work.

You can put 600 dollars into a decent new computer, which can be used for many different things aside from just playing games(which it does much better than a console - especially for games like FPS), or you can spend 600 dollars on the new X-box and 4 controllers and be able to do little more with it than play games and listen to music...
With computers you can get that music from the internet. With comptuers you can watch DVDs, burn DVDs, burn music CDs, etc. You can watch them on the X-box, but can you burn your own? You can play games like Guild Wars and WoW much better than you could on any 8 button console controller(10 if you count L3 and R3 of the PS2). You can surf websites, like Guild Wars Guru. You can chat with friends, you can chat with friends while you play games.
Now where would you prefer to spend your money? The game box, or the box that does it all?

Unless the makers of console games come up with a new radically improved way to play games and give the gamers more control then I don't see the PC being knocked off the throne anytime soon. The console makers can't think outside the box and continue to mimic PC's in every way, but refuse to give up control. PS2 has a stand you can buy separately to make it look like a tower, xbox 360 looks like a tower case as well. They all have the same components as a PC, but with less power and versatility. Even a laptop computer can be upgraded to a certain extent.
Most of the hardcore PC gamers make there own computers. I for one am not willing to give up that control I have over my investment. I have very little control over the ps2 I own if it breaks. How would I go about fixing it? You basically can't unless you can purchase the internal hardware separately. Since you can't do that then you are screwed unless you purchased a warranty.
Console Makers = Control Freaks

Frankly, it's much easier for me to use a keyboard and good mouse than one of those cumbersome console controllers - especially in FPS games. I mean, how can one possibly make consistent headshots without a mouse? The gross movement of the console joypad has the cursor flying across the screen in one of only 8 major directions at a time. Even if you try to "nudge" the cursor by a 2-3 pixels you end up pointing at the ceiling or turning 90 degrees if you're not careful.

Better accuracy for FPS. And better layout system for RTSs.
Those are the only types of games I play.

Good Stuff is on PC ..even if atm it almost only MMOs
Consoles are expensive since u have to buy tons of additional stuff like mem cards and such.
So Console+misc+some games = price of a good PC ^^
Also, it's way more comfy with mouse and keyboard ... looking at those guys playing CS, Warcraft or Quake with a pad is very funny to laugh at ^^
The real prob with consoles, in when u live in Europe..
if u dont try to get imported games from US/Jap .. u ve to stick to the 50Hz slow with extremely awful translation of games; games that are more expensive in Europe and released months after US/Jap (when released) ex: rpgs on PS One ... come to Europe with titles like Parasite Eve, Xenogears, FF Tactics... most ppl never heard of those ^^
PC is way more simple ... and also, u can do more with some of ur games, like mods for NWN, D2, ur own Quake maps etc ...
(Anyway EMULATION is ur friend ^^ )

I'm sorry, what was the point of that article?
Is that what passes for intelligence these days? Stating the obvious, by stringing a bunch of fancy words and pop-culture cliches together?
I want that 2 minutes of my life back please.
And no the PC is not dead, what rock is this guy living under?
Also if you read any pc magazine you would have already known that ATI was making that card. You don't need to know "Chris Evenden" *cough-shamelessnamedropping-cough* to know that
Sorry to get off topic, please continue

Well I take that back partially
*sorry for answering my own post, I didn't want to jam it in there*
As much as love MMOs despite their brainwashing pointless goodness, I have to say they kinda killed the kickass genres I want to see more of.
When was the last time a good RPG came out on PC? Last one I played was Vampire the Masquerade bloodlines.
Why does everyone think they can make an MMO? Who's retarded idea was it to make Matrix online?? Have you seen the hardcore fans of the Matrix? No personality! *no offense*. Of course that game was destined to fail and not even SOE can revive it.
Grandia online?? Please don't kill one of my favorite titles. Arc the lad online? Who do you have to kill to stop this meaningless dribble from hitting the market
Albeit there are some good ones out there....very few. Well....like this one of course. But people are inheritly stupid underneath there grown-up mature facade. And there is nothing like hiding behind a digital face to bring the retard out in all of us.
No more MMOs! D&D online can come through because it's a legacy and everyone knew it was going to happen. But Dark and Light, Tabula Rasa, etc etc etc blah blah...no more. Make some freaking high quality single player games for a change. And no I'm not going to buy any of the thousands of mirror image strategy games out there. I bought Cossacks 2 and want to dig my eye balls out with a spoon

PCs will be around for sometime yet to come. I do see in our lifetime where computers become more console like. A hybrid type of computer. A stand alone computer as we know it today will probably fade away. The insides of computers will go with non-moving parts. Hard drives will become simple flash drives. Everything that we add to our computers such as video cards, sound cards, etc will become software upgradeable...for a price. I can see where we all have a laptop or a tablet style computer or even a PDA style. Designed to be plug into a Display device like a HDTV. I can also see a I.D. card for the masses that we dock with our new type of "computer". Even your car. It will have all of our personal info/cash/credit on them. Where we can dock this card into any "computer" and our personalized OS and all of our files will load up.
I will always keep a couple of older style stand alone computers. I learned this from the regret of selling off my Commodore 64.

I wonder if they'll bother releasing it for PC. When Halo came to PC, everyone cheered, until they played it. Anyone with a PC realized it was a mediocre FPS at best compared to other games for the system. It was a good console shooter, but thats about it.
