(Doom) reviews here.
There was a thread started ealier in anticipation for the movie. I wanted this one to be actual reviews from this community. I haven't seen it and would appreciate honest reviews from all of you (that decide to see it). The critics have a low opinion of the movie, but we've almost never seen eye to eye. So here we go. What did you think of the movie, "DOOM"?

I agree. I've check for reviews everywhere and that's the feeling I get. I wanted view points from this community as well. I'll probably see it anyway.

From what ive heard its ok as a movie itself but lacks many things which brings it down.... a story line, and any relevence to the title is lacking... also it has the rock which is like an automatic -10 points

I don't know about this one. Movies based on games have been generally underwhelming. And as was previously stated

NOOO they are making a Halo 2 movie as well. AGH all games made into movies turn out like crap. The rock in some other movies are o.k. at best. The scorpion king wasn't bad but I mean he just doesn't fit into DOOM. As soon as I saw the preview I knew it was going to suck. I really hope halo 2 won't suck lol .

As long as they dont plan to create a Half-Life movie, I am ok.
I am hoping the DOOM movie is good though, because the only thing cool about Doom 3 is the shadows. Ooh yeah, and the switching off your flashlight to use a gun was intense. All ive played is the demo though, the first FPS demo I ever got bored playing on my first run.

The DOOM movie won't be too great imo. I don't even think it will take place on Mars, which is a total rip-off. And those "professional" critics at Yahoo always give movies bad scores. They were never loved as children, so they take out their anger on movies.

It was decent.. I was hoping or a little more mindless killing (which is what doom is all about) The ending was bad tho.. there was an ending 100x beeter about 30 seconds before the regular ending.
For those of you that saw it, picture this. Just as that grenade blows up in the end, blast into the doom3 intro song at the part where it picks up in beat.

Just got back from catching this flick - and I have to say... What the hell was everyone whining about? This movie wasn't even close to as bad as credics said it would. Let me bring it down, for ya.. It's a 3rd action, a 3rd horror and a 3rd suspence. It's not supposed to SCARE you, it's supposed to give you a creepy atmosphere. The scenes were pretty good with the beasties, too. Lots of blood and violence, lots of cool monster effects. Even the Rock's acting wasn't that bad. Probably the best he's done, which is the equivilant of a chair, mind you.
Now, for what everyone was curious about - the first person scene. I gotta say, I was impressed. It was pulled off rather well, espcially the fight scene with "Pinky".
In the end, it's made for those who like guns, violence, space, monsters, demons, action, and most of all, the DOOM games. It's not made for the person looking for something as scarey as Ringu.
As a DOOM gamer and a fan of science fiction, I give this movie a 7/10. I would've liked it better if there were more beasties and a scene that invovled the hell you wintnessed in a game, but it was still nicely pulled off. I'll be buying this on DVD.
