...but doesn't anybody say "I just did a poo"? Because you wouldn't say "I just did poo".
That sounds caveman-ish...
...maybe it's England.
Edit - why the hell am I posting this?

Maybe it's just that the word poo doesn't in any way denote the quanity....and it's not supposed to, but merely refers to the act. The amount is irrelevant to the action?

1. A thread...on this...just wrong...
2. Poo is like many other words in the English language that are used for both singular and plural, like:
You
Your
Yours

Poo is a substance (like water), a singular and a plural noun and a verb. So you can call a steaming pile of sh|t 'poo' a single bit 'poo' or 'a poo' (but using 'a poo' is retarded AFAIK) multiple pieces 'poo' and when you go to the bathroom you 'poo'.

well...
when we use the word 'poo' we are always using it in the plural sense. no human has, as yet, encountered a single unit of poo. if they were to encounter it then maybe this whole awful paradox would be solved. i think however that the term 'poo' does infact refer to an astral ideal of perfect 'pooness', in effect the worst thing possible. however in the world nothing is PERFECTLY 'pooey' and so we are assigning a property to something rather than using it as a noun. 'poo' is infact a verb. hence we have ... was poo; ... is poo and ... will soon be poo. that pile of brown soggy solid is poo.
i hope you follow?

"poo" can be used in 3 ways
1. verb (e.g. "he/she is pooing")
2. noun - the act (e.g. "he/she took a poo" similar to "he/she took a walk")
3. noun - the product (e.g. "I stepped in poo")
While it's possible to talk about "a poo" when you are using definition #2 (no pun intended), but #3 is the one that seems to be both singular and plural.

Couldn't it also be an adjective... as in "the poo scented cloth"?

OMGSH I FOUND THE ANSWER!!!
poo is used as a singular and plural because even though there mite be two pieces they have the ability to be formed as one, therefore it is neither many or one...just like play-doh, you say "i have a play doh" not
"i have of play-doh's", or "theres lots of playdoh's over there"
I feel liek i've accomplished sumthin 2day

If people make "poo"
and dogs make "dog doo"
do frogs make "foo"?
or owls make "ooo"?
