That's disturbing
This probably isn't thread worthy, but it has been bugging the crap out of me.
Why are there people who have only been here for a month or 2 and have ridiculously high forum ranks. Some of those ranks require 2000+ posts if I remember correctly.
I dunno, am I the only one who thinks that is kind of sad?

me either but as you can tell by our dates we have both been in since the beginning and both reasonably high ranks, not too outrageous. But how do you post over 2000 times in one month. I believe the term is "forum RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO"

Since 3 out of 4 posts (till mine) are yours, you basicly answered your own question:
they. post. a. lot.
And it does make me feel you are trying to up your own postcount this way also

The funniest thing i've seen is people spamming posts on boards with no form of ranking or post count...weirdos...
The other thing could be that they are active traders, they pretty much have to post a lot to keep up with current offers etc.

I don't think 3 posts is going to affect me:P well 4 now.
And yes maybe they do trade, but no one trades that much.
Anyway I don't give to two excrements about my post count.
Just trying to understand what goes through some people's heads....ego boost? loneliness? what? It just boggles me is all

The last rank is Cervantes. It is reached at 1500 posts, and Don Quixote at 1000. I'm also sad to see people with 15 posts a day over a long period, especially considering that all these spammers didn't produce anything useful.
That said, this thread will be moved to off-topic, as it is not GW related.

oh it's 1500? my bad...still:P
You should see CoH forums. People with 4000-5000 posts.
Like I said, probably not post worthy

Maybe...just maybe some people post because they want to post and can do so without obsesssing over some stupid internet rank? Just because some people who post a lot are pleasantly suprised over their rank change doesn't mean they were specifically spamming to get it.
Chatting on a forum is a recreational activity, part of the experience is gossiping about whatever nonsense is on your mind.

Its the join date that matters, not the amount of spam.

I beg to differ as I was here since almost the beginning (I would imagine close to the initial release of guild wars) great site. As someone else put it "Lurking" and I just never registered and posted. I don't think that makes me any less or more important than anyone else. Nor do I think that rank is worth anything what I do think however is the quality of your posts and how much you contribute to the discussion of a topic.

heck 15 a day isnt bad, i have seen people on here with an average of 70 posts a day, they just fill up the little games in off topic section, and spam back and forth

Well If I had to pick betwen "one of the first join date", or "Cerevantes". I would pick one of the first join dates.

In the end, post count and join date neither qualify or disqualify a good poster.
