www.guildwiki.org is down!
Guildwiki is down, for the moment. Basically, we're too big for shared hosting. We meltdown any shared server we touch. We need a dedicated machine, and we're having trouble finding a reliable one in our price range. You can continue donating, and say hello to our sponsors at the bottom of the screen. We'll be moving to a dedicated box with ev1servers.net ASAP. Watch this space for updates, and you can email me at: phil.nelson AT gmail dot com. - Gravewit
As you can see, the site is down, the web admin left a hopeful message that it will be back up soon though.
One of the best gw related sites Ive been to.

Unlucky, I know how bandwidth can be costly for web servers.
Dedicated is your best option to say the least.

It can't be as bad as the GWOnline.net forums, where EVERY thread gets merged....sooooo annoying. Plus, they close any thread that gets off topic a little bit....forums are meant to get off topic!

Yeah they have a clean, easy to navigate site, I love GWG but I admit I sometimes had an easier time finding information there. But GWG has more info so it has its reasons.

I like Guildwiki for info like collectors, quests, ect.
I like GWO and GWG for strategies, builds, ect. (Yes, GWO does have a lot of merged threads, but that's because people are too lazy to use the search function or their eyes and post the same question 5 threads above the last one >_<)
I like the OT forum for spamming!

Bandwidth is usually the issue. I'm currently using www.lunarpages.com. For a modest $7.95/mo I get 100GB transfer per month. 200GB is $22.95, and they have dedicated solutions starting at $99 (2000GB/mo).

What are your bandwidth requirements for guildwiki?
Have you asked for content encoding on the web server,to reduce your bandwidth requirements?

You might want look into Media Temple (http://www.mediatemple.net/). They host a lot of popular / high end web design sites (e.g. http://www.2advanced.com/) so stability and bandwith shouldn't be a problem.

For a high bandwidth site like wiki you have to be careful when you used share hosting services. Usually the cheapest ones overload each server with accounts and hope that each account does not use anywhere near the amount of space and bandwidth allocated to them. If you actually plan on using up all the bandwidth you have allocated to your account then you might start running into problems. There are definitely good shared hosting services out there but they usually cost more so people think they are rip offs. The fact is they might only put 50 accounts on a server instead of 200. The problem of course is you can't tell what you're getting beforehand.
