I recently saw a movie poster for Doom the movie. Has anyone heard of this movie? I recently watched the trailer and i was imediately dissapointed to find out that the main charecter was played by the Rock. I have nothing against this actor but i dont belive this to be the roll for him. It also seems that they are trying to blame genetics for the problems on the mars base and not more of a religious base with demons and the devil like the game. I'm already disapointed and i haven't even seen it yet. Movies that spawn from games are usually really bad but youd think they would not insult the game base with a bad movie for some of the biggest games ever. Take a look if you havent seen the trailer, and share your thoughts here :

Well,(RESIDENT EVIL SPOILERS AHEAD>> U HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!)
I felt Resident Evil and 2 to be an okish Sp Eff movie but ZERO depth of characters..i mean..after I come out..and all ive got is a feeling of lopsided emptiness...Milla Yovo-whatzherspelling had a machine like performance and others were so shallow it really felt i'd played 1/12 hours of RE without teh scares...i think critics demolished both the movies...RE2 was a BIG pile of shit..Imaging..a hulking killing machine like Nemsis getting a concience and sacrificing himself?????? GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I Saw the doom trailer and can assure u..they've crappped the original theme..
and i agree..The Rock SUCKS as an actor(A totem pole will have more expressions)..which probably gives an indication that the movie dudes are aiming for hack n slash and no story...which makes it another in the long line of duds

And dude..Mario BROS was a FLOP..So was Double dragon!! Where did u get ur facts???

The Rock does not suck as an actor. The simple fact is not every actor appeals to every person. Not all actors are traditional either. I love watching old Arnold movies, and his best line ever was, "I'll be back." Will Doom the movie suck? Maybe, maybe not. I didn't notice a Wayans brother in the trailer, so it make it at least rentable for me, but again... that's personal taste in actors. I don't need a story to make sense all the time (heck, I play Guild Wars!). As long as there is enough explosions and eye candy (like AVP and Underworld), I'll be content.

the problem with movies out of games , is that they are low bugjet , teenage fillup trash ...

I think it could have a little promice, but the monsters look like crap(I watched the hd trailer). Lets just face it. Doom is the kind of game that needs little excuse or story to put a gun in your hand in the game environment. So I don't think a movie with a cliche'd premise of genetic mishaps will do much but add cheese to this already shallow premice. Don't get me wrong Doom kicks ass, just most likely not as a movie. Im renting, this movie wont get my 7+$$.

I KNOW all actors don;t appeal to all ppl(ya ppl are different psyche)..but dude..versaltality comes in the form of how a good actor manipulates his every move and expression into something an audience is expecting.
And I wouldnt necessarily classify Arnie as a singular expression actor..he's funny when he's supposed to be(KG cop). Bad guy when he wants to be. But irrespective of his limited expressions..he's got the raw charisma to pull of his weaknesses.

The Rock..(along side with Keanur Reeves and Christian Slater) do NOT have even that charisma to back up. Hence, their movies seeem just plain empty.
Broken arrow was fun because of travolta..not slater(who waz da hero)..
Reeves..well..Neo wouldnt be The One but for Lawrence Fishburne..did ya se the Rot of Constantine????????)

Isn't Reaper the main character? If so, then he's being played by Karl Urban (Lord of the Rings-Eomer, Chronicles of Riddick, Bourne Supremecy) and the Rock is playing "Sarge". I like both actors. I guess everyone has their own opinions. Not sure if this movie will be good or not though. Didn't think Doom had much of a plot anyway so I'm curious why everyone seems to want accuracy. I'll watch it.

I saw some of the previews of this movie. I like the actors in it and realy hope it doesn't suck. Although video game movies haven't been among the best of the lot. Some of the camera action was done like the video game (1st Person-Shooter). It looked funny, but I hope they don't over do it.

I made a thread about this before - it DOES take place on Mars, now, and the script has been changed a bit to give it more of a Demony approach. See, it's some sort of virus that changes people into their INNER demons. So, I guess if you were a real asshole, you'd be turned into an Imp or Barren of Hell. Anyways, I can just prented their demons, since they ARE exactly the same as they would be in the game. And the BFG 9000 is still in there :3

Man..Demons from hell would have and event-horizon-ish kind of a feel.
clubbing the two together...Lawrence fishburne witha plasma rifle(instead of that pea shooter of a nail gun) against a souped up hell spawn Samniel facing off in The Corridor of the ship?? lol..

OK if u get OXM you'll get sum inside to this.ROCK IS NOT THE MAIN MARINE!!i no its crazy but the rock is actually the commander .i forget his name but the guy who played Eomer is actually the main marine.and allthough they miss out on sum of the key demon they have the Baron. If u want any more info msg me and ill look it up.

i also forgot to mention It is REALLY REALLY GORY.a staff of 11 ppl over 25 all were pretty freaked out!

Honestly, I liked the trailer, it looked promising, and that's the first time I've been able to say that of any game- or comic-conversion-to-movie.
If they really go full out on carnage & gore, and I do mean full out, then the Doom movie might well be good.
The Rock isn't so bad. It could've been a lot worse - they could've picked Ben Affleck.
