WOLRDS (world not american) most popular sport
i have a avatar taht supports soccer. it turns out that this has gained me constent attetion of flamers saying how unpopular soccer is. most of these people i believe are american. i myslf am an american but i like soccer fair more above football. i found a site taht had a survey on it and the resutls should speak for themselves. http://www.surveygalaxy.com/surPubli...publish_id=352
this should be interesting to see how many times i get flamed for this but for all u football lovers take a look at it then shut up as soccer is rated as the number one sport in the world. (44% of the surveys were taken by americans ) if u find anything to disprove what i found feel free to post it but im sure all u wil find is that soccer is always ranked above soccer in world popularity.

Lol heres the funny thing, soccer isint called soccer, its called football... but americans just wanted to be different from those euros, so they named it soccer.... The only 2 countries in the world that call footbal soccer, canada and u.s.a. I myself think football is the most retarded sport there is, o lets watch a whole bunch of people break eachothers legs.... its liek wrestling except it involves a ball... and 15 black guys attacking one black guy. (IM NOT BEING RACIST, but the majority of football players black, and if their not im sorry and i take it back and change it to white on white :P) soccer takes some talent, foot ball... u just goto be big and fast, not to hard...
of u couldent notice my sport is soccer, but i luv basket ball too . BTW basketball was a canadian sport. dont beleive me? go look it up

football = american "soccer"
you actually use your feet.....
american football = barely using foot except for field goals?
honestly what idiot came up with the name football for a game you dont even use your feet to control the ball in...
oh and sharpe, wrestling is the highest contact sport available to play at middle-high school level, boxing is the highest contact sport. none of the which are retarded because you don't know how much guts it takes to go out there knowing you could get paralyzed or break something.
2/3 wrestlers break at least one bone every 2 years

Lol, the survey is probably from soccer players, since u have to register and such, and soccer isnt the worlds most popular sport, and i admit AMERICAN() football isnt either. Its probably one of the olympic sports, not soccer. Just because alot of countries have a soccer team doesnt mean its the most popular, u have to think normal citizens, not pros/kids.

Actually, Booger, in one of my classes we were talking about worldwide trends, and as for sources of entertainment worldwide, soccer is number one. Amazingly it is followed up by opera as the second most popular form of entertainment in the world.
So not only is soccer the most popular sport in the world, it is the most popular form of entertainment.

Is this another thread about bashing Americans for something?
I'm an American and, for the record, I realize that the game we know as soccer is the most popular sport in the world and that American football is pretty much exclusive to the U.S. I wasn't aware that there was a plague of Americans bashing soccer without being provoked first.
I'm not the fella who invented the word soccer - and neither is any living American ... so why the verbal assault?
In any case the gauntlet has been thrown so I'll strike back:
A good number of soccer games end with penalty kicks - doesn't that make the preceeding game irrelevant much of the time? I say you save the effort and skip to the penalty kicks ...
(just kidding - soccer players are superb atheletes.)
And regarding basketball. Basketball was created by James Naismith, a Canadian, while working in Springfield, Massachusetts. The first game took place in the United States, but 10 of the players of the first basketball game where from Quebec. It seems that basketball was part of both countries heritage. But if you want to be precise - basketball was invented in the United States.

srry bout the link and yes i know soccer is called football in the other nations but i figured since there are a bunch of american football lovers that they would like it to be more called soocer. u dont have to register there should be a button that says enter w/o regeristing. i didnt register myslf and still got to take the survey. as for green who said it was taken by soccer lovers that would be bullshit. it says 44% of the people who have taken it were american so now what? does taht mean these americans are soccer lovers as well? think a lil next time. it may be boring for u guys to watch since u dont understand anything a/b the game really (yes theres more to getting the ball between the 2 pools ) but it is the worlds most popular sport. football is not played in every nation, soccer is. normal citizens do enjoy soccer. as for the fact that when ever a european soccer team has a game the stadium is PACKED, much like how our football staidums here are. as for MLS games (the american soccer league for u idoits out there) the staidums may not be packed to capactiy but there are still a hell of alot of people there. ill try to find another link to prove it for u dumasses who still think football is the most popular sport in the world
this doesnt have an numbers w/ it but it is from CNN
http://www.cnn.com/WORLD/asiapcf/981...re.robosoccer/
read this article by a fellow football lover (read all the way through i know it may be hard but do try)

When did American Bashing drop off the top spot for most popular sport?
Anywho, there are plenty of sports america doesn't dominate. It's just that alot of people over there think like good old Booger:

That sports don't exist if your not winning.
To name a few (I have not looked into who currently IS best at any of these but im sure most of them wont be america ):
Snooker (and therefore pool)
Cricket
Badminton
Table Tennis
Sqash
Polo
Darts
Beach Volleyball
Lacrosse
Rugby Union
Rugby League
etc etc etc...
Although I dont follow national football (international is ok), I realy fail to see how anyone can question that it is the most popular sport.
Golf however, is indeed very very boring to watch... I let it go though because its a great game to play.
