Hunting is a sport if you fight animals with your bare hands and feet, and maybe your teeth .....
It's a cruelty if you fight with anything else.

PETA = officially "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals".
The fact is some species must be hunted or else they will overpopulate, and then die of starvation or become a major nuisance to humanity. (squirrels, coyotes, foxes, etc.)
I don't know any hunter who will shoot something and not use it for meat.
Understand, we're not talking about hunting the black rhino here, or the African elephant. We're talking about animals of which there's no chance of us making them extinct, and there are usually strict laws regarding killing does (female deer) and setting bag limits on ducks, squirrels, etc.
The comments regarding fish and c0ckroaches and stuff is also correct. If you have a problem with hunting, then fine. But then I expect you to be a strict vegetarian. No meat, no fish, no poultry, no nothing. Eat your broccoli, lettuce, and tomatoes and be happy.
As for me, fresh deer chili is simply some of the best food in the world and I'll gladly continue consuming it and supporting hunting.

Riiiight - even though animals have teeth and claws and fangs and other defences when we don't? Our defence happens to be our intelligance to BUILD a weapon and use it - that's why WE are at the top of the food chain. So uh, next time you're hungry, why don't you go out, find a cow, and kill it with your "teeth and hands" mmk?
Edit - And for the record, how is killing something instantly with a bullet more cruel than letting it bleed to death or slowly killing it with your "Hands and teeth"?

Yeah, when I can run 15 mph, hear ultrasonic sounds, and have 1/2" claws and fangs, then I'll be happy to fight them. Until then, they'll use what they have, and I'll use what I have.
EDIT: Blah, Echosex beat me to it.

Well...I've hunted for sport before, what can I say...I've grown up in rural areas, on a farm and such, so I really dont see why its controversial...However, we never let the meat go to waste, we always ate what we wanted and gave what we didnt to others, mostly older couples that were to old to go out anymore

Hah, quick draw! Good point - I didn't think to add the other defences. Proves the point even more.

The Most Dangerous Game. It's a good read and makes you think about hunting. It's a very famous short story by the way.

I think it's a guy in a suit but they might have enhanced it with some CG for the head ... because it just looks so convincing.
