The Bengals are exactly what the Colts used to be... all O and no D. When you let Pittsburgh score 30+ on you, you know your defense has problems. But when your offense lights up Pittsburgh for 30+, you know you've got a powerful offense. If anyone has any chance of stopping the Colts in the playoffs, it's the Bengals. They almost topped Indy already in a shooting match once this year, and I think their offense is only going to get better.

A brief comment on the TO front because it just occured to me... how about TO in San Diego? Brees, Tomlinson, Gates, McCardell as the #2 receiver... and TO. Does that not bring back memories of the Cowboys "triplet" offense. Steady QB Aikman/Brees... big time runner Smith/Tomlinson... troubled wideout TO/Irvin... and the reliable, always open check down tight end Novachek/Gates. Tell me that offense wouldn't scare the living daylights out of you.

You're right, but it's still kind of crazy since Marvin Lewis is supposed to be a D first kind of guy. Then again, we all saw how well that worked out the last few years. Still, it's good to see the Bengals out of the cellar. I just wish the Ravens would stop sucking.

And about the Patriots...I'm all about that team, because they're actually a team instead of a collection of primadonnas. Unfortunately for them, I think this is going to be a season like the one after they won their first title.

This means, of course, they will threepeat in the next three years.

Losing Rodney Harrison was the absolute killing blow to their season. The injuries to Corey Dillon would be a close second. Without Dillon, the Pats offense has totally lacked balance, forcing Tom Brady and his backup receivers to try and get the job done. And more often than not... they HAVE gotten the job done. Brady has elevated his game this year to become a dominant passer, simply because he has to be if the Pats are to win. He currently leads the league in passing yards.

But losing Rodney Harrison was huge. Not only was he the captain in the secondary (and the only veteran left) he was a huge support in run defense and allowed the Patriots a lot more defensive flexibility. Now the Pats can't rely on him to cover all the ground both in the secondary and in run support. Not even getting Tedy Bruschi back can offset that loss. Their season was over when Harrison left the field on a cart.

ahh but they got bruschi back. he was also one of there huge motivations as well. he came back from a stroke. a injury that should of kept him out until next year. his dedication should be a motivation to the team. they ahve been killed by injury this year but they are now recovering. losing harrison(who came from Western Illinois) was huge yes but not season ending. if u want to talk a/b losses in their secondary they also lost ty law to free agency. so really they lost alot but i think they are still super bowl calibur.

The Pats will go as far as Corey Dillon's broken body can take them. We already know the defense can't really stop anyone, so that means they have to play keep away with the ball and outscore people. That means big plays in the passing game, and then grinding the clock with Dillon. Brady has already proven this year that he can make the big throws, now Dillon needs to do his part and control the clock to take the pressure off the defense.

However... the way the playoff seedings are looking, the Pats are looking at a rematch (at Indy) with the Colts on the second playoff weekend, and that's assuming they get by the wild card team (likely Jacksonville) that they play in the first round. Not exactly a situation I would feel good about putting my money on.

Colts seem to have problems in recent years in the playoffs. i think last year that is the first time they had gotten past the 1st round. The previous years they lost in the 1st round, 2 years ago i think they lost to denver at home. so they may be 12-0 rite now but they arent the best playoff team in the world but all that can change. who knows. Pats are exprienced and i think that will show come playoff time.

The old "talent vs. experience" argument huh? The Colts aren't exactly inexperienced. They've made the playoffs every year in recent memory. The only thing stopping them has been the Patriots. But this year is different. This year they went TO Foxboro and pounded the Pats. This year the Pats have worse than a patchwork secondary, it's nonexistent.

The only hope the Pats would have defensively is if their front 7 is healthy and gets in Peyton's face all game long. The only way to slow him down is to disrupt the pocket. That's Peyton's one weakness... he is a strict pocket passer. Get in his face and disrupt his timing, and he'll make mistakes. But again... I ain't betting on it.

im not saying the colts are inexprienced, they are exprienced they just have never gotten a real good playoff run together. like i siad this could change, but the pats injuries are healing and they should be healthy for the playoffs. i really could care less who wins the super bowl, im more in to the european championship for soccer

but i just dont know pats are looking more and more like the team from last year.

The Pats will be FAR from healthy. Duane Starks is still out for the year, Corey Dillon is still not 100%, and he won't be because they need him to finish out the regular season. And mostly importantly, Rodney Harrison is still out for the year.

I'm not ruling out yet another piece of Brady/Belichick magic... but I will say this. If somehow they get to the Super Bowl and win it... they are THE greatest team of all time, period. End of story... no debate whatsoever.

yur rite they are not healthy rite now but they are getting there. everyone has to deal w/ injuries and they have dealt w/ them. no they arent the same calibur as they were last year but they are getting healthy. it is predicted that dillon should be healthy by playoff time. but like i said soccer is my sport not football.

Hey I got nothing against soccer... ya'll can have soccer and we'll stick to football. Now Australian Rules... that's good stuff. I used to watch that all the time on FOX Sports Net back when I had real cable.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pulling hard for the Patriots. They wre my preseason pick, just like I picked them last year. I was really hoping we'd finally see the three-peat. And if they could've been the Colts at home a few weeks back, I'd still have faith that it might happen. But that win got the Pats out of the Colts head. They aren't afraid of them anymore, like they were in the past. And that mental edge (on top of overwhelming superiority in talent) could make the Colts completely unstoppable.

But they are going to lose to the Chargers in two weeks. Is LaDanian Tomlinson not THE biggest stud in the league?

LT def is a freaking stud. he is the best rb in the freaking game hands down no questions about it. but the chargers dont have enough offensive weapons. they need to get there passing gmae going though w/ LT running like he is they may not need it. he runs for tds catches td and even THREW a td. complete package rite there.

Colts may have that out of there head but the Pats wil come back w/ a chip on there shouldar. when u got sumthin to work out nothin stands in your way trust me i know. so it would be a great game to see them matched up though they will have to improve their secondary A TON to stop peyton.

How do you take away all those weapons? Double TO, and Gates or McCardell is gonna beat you. Play 8 up front to slow down Tomlinson, and TO spends the day catching 60-yard bombs... at least until he throws his inevitable temper tantrum.

that would be immposible but idk if TO wants to go back over to the west coast after San Fransico. sides Brees isnt the greatest QB in the world and TO wouldnt get enough touches to satisfy him since LT is freaking amazing.

I've spent some time in Cali... and I can tell you, the Bay Area is NOTHING like SoCal. I think TO could get by just fine in SD. How can you say Brees isn't a great quarterback? Sure he's not Peyton Manning, but he's completely turned his career around and established himself as one of the top 5 in the league.

You're right about the touches though. TO really does need a West Coast style of offense in order to thrive, and SD is all about "Marty Ball"... pound them with LaDanian to open up Gates and others downfield.

Brees hasnt had the greatest year compared to last year. i would say hes not an ELITE QB but i wil concur that he is great at times. but ya TO is a ball hog and if he isnt happy he throws a tantrum and leaves. GROW UP TO THIS ISNT HIGH SCHOOL WHERE U CAN RUN EVERYONE OVER!
