GW is instanced, WoW is persistant (majority)

I don't like the way much of WoW's world looks rather cartoony - everything is a bright shade of orange or purple. GW world looks more "realistic."

who cares about looks.its all about content and storyline.WoW is better in both. gw is good in pvp and gvg and their graphics are better. i like both of em.

to be honest i have played over 1200+ hours in GW and im not bored yet.
and i find WoW way too cartoony/fake looking (thats just personnal opinion)

Now, there is things in guild wars to do when you are done everything:

- get fissure armor (that can take you a while)
- try to get some of the more rare green items without buying them
- do all of the UW and FoW's quests
- do all of Sorrow's Furnace quests
- do all of the Titan's quests (all 5 of them)
- Win in the Hall of Heroes (now i know some of you are not into PvP, but sorry to say that Guild Wars happen to be a more PvP orianted game then most others)

And once you manage to do all this, ArenaNet will give you Chapter 2 to play with

WoW, just like any other online RPGs, you will get to the max lvl, and if you dont like doing everything i mentionned above, why would you enjoy everything in WoW, both games offer lots of quests, if you choose to get bored before you do all those quest or other accomplishments, it dosent make a game boring, i would say the cause is more on the users side.

Well I've only been playing WoW for a couple days... but so far I can say that GW was more of a grind than this is. Running fetch quests isn't nearly as annoying as trying to get enough shard or ecto drops to someday have a chance of getting Fissure armor.

And trying to find groups for SF quests makes you feel like a lonely man in a crowded room. Sure there's people around, but they want nothing to do with you. You shout "LFG for High Priest" and 50 people shout back "LFG for farming!"

GW for me now is all about pick up and play quality. I can jump in, get some quick PvP in, crack some skulls, then go about my day. I'm basically done with PvE until Chapter 2.

..Which has absolutely nothing to do with the graphics statements made on this thread. That has to do with the server-side tech, not the look.

The cartoony look is SUPPOSED to be so, as it fits with the warcraft historical look, and comical feel. For some, the fact that it doesn't take itself so god damn oober badass elite skillzzzzz serious is a charm.

For me, it's a nice break from everyone copying squaresoft with big hair and swords as long as the most endowed man that ever walked the earth.

GW, and EW, and SWG and AO all seem to want you to take it utterly serious. Gaming shouldn't be so anal retentive in my opinion, all the time. The look of the game also crosses over into the personalities you meet in-game. The people are more laid back, and have fewer whining sessions about the most stupid shit imaginable. I NEVER see religious debats, or naked dancing, or any of that other stupid shit. And the best part for me is, people speak in the appropos channel for GOD's SAKE!

Did anyone else have some FIERCE lag or login issues last night? It took me 10 minutes to get into my server and then I was lagging big time. I know it wasn't my connection because all my other 'net stuff was working fine. I'm just trying to make sure it wasn't just me.

Private servers, yes, everyone thinks their king when they find a good one, but the truth is a private server isn't even as good as a demo, i played wow on a private server first too, then i bought GW(which i had already planned on doing) then i got bored with GW and i friend of mine who was also on that server and also played GW with me suggested i buy WoW, he showed me everything and then i got all those flash back to the old server, how fun it was, but in the end, it just died out, but now there was actually much more to be done after the line where the private server died out (PvP, battlegrounds, instances, raids)

You'll get 1 great week if your server is really good, but in the end, it's nowhere near as good as the real thing.

The superiority of WoW is simply that while GW is actually a team based game, WoW has much more player interaction then GW ever will, coordinating a 40 man raid on Onyxia (big bad dragon) is just a example, how about a 4 hour battle in the Alterac Valley battleground?
Another thing i like about WoW is that it has much more freedom and (despite what people might say) much better graphics, yep that's right, mostly it's because WoW has an almost continuous world (you only load when travelling between continents) thus giving you some amazing sightseeing, you can get almost anywhere while in GW you can only walk on flat surfaces.
I think why WoW wins the GW vs. WoW battle is because it just lasts much longer, there's more classes, more races, more areas and things you don't even see in GW. That's why GW has only been my "just a quick match" kinda game lately.
