Has anybody checked out DDO? (Dungeons and Dragons Online) It looks pretty cool. My friend's checking it out. I might actually play it if it turns out good. Sure I can't do ALL the crap I do when playing with the guys (I'm sure some of you know how some of those D&D sessions go), but I think it actually looks fun and it might be a good game to play on the side. Anyone else have any information on it yet?

Character set up is just incredible in this game. Tried to do a custom character and just tossed in the towel because of all the feats and skills and not knowing full what they can do. So I did a pre-made character, rolled pretty well on it and then started with customizing the skin tone, eyebrows, nose, lips, facial scars. (May I say that the female faces are pretty ugly, male faces are quite good). The armor is very realistic looking.

So starting off in the world and going through the training is okay, and it surprised me how interactive you have to be. Jumping to the side, straffing, etc. Finishing the training and going into town is great. I love the tavern, it's cool because it truly is a gathering place. Lots of interactivity there and doing the small quests and learning traps and puzzles was something I hadn't done before in an MMOG so I liked it. The town is just that, a town! It's huge with lots of alleys and turns.

I think it's interesting that you don't earn any exp fighting the monsters but only upon completion of the quests. I haven't played far into it yet but it does have the D&D feel to it. Attacking is turn based and you have burden. (I tried to wear mail as a Ranger, yeah... took me forever to figure out I wasn't doing damage because of that armor). This is not a first-timers MMOG though. Well, that's my opinion on it at least. You have to know how to use the keyboard (okay if you do FPS a lot you'll be okay), interacting while fighting, and it's for groups. People picking up this game should not expect to solo any part of it. So picking a good group is going to be crucial here.

So that's my two cents on the game.
