2006 All-Star Dunk Contest rigged?
Last night, at about 11:00 eastern time PM, the biggest scandal ever in the history of the dunk contest occured. I enjoyed, so far, everything at the 2006 All-Star Weeked, except the dunk contest. 4 Contestants: Andre Iguodala, Nate Robinson, J.R. Smith, and some other guy that didnt go anywhere fought it out to win. Now, I'm from philly so, naturally, I'd want my favroite player, Andre Iguodala, to win. And in my mind he did. The first dunks for the first round were alright (just saying that because I can't remember what happened vividly). Funny thing with Smith was that stupid tape thing. Next round was pretty sick. The other guy and Smith were eliminated. Iguodala had that amazing Lob-from-Iverson-off-the-backboard-caught-then-under-the-legs-reverse-dunk to have the highest score going into the second round with Nate Robinson: the crowd's and judge's favorite (because he was small). This is where the wierd stuff happened. I think Nate went first and did that lob thing about 10 times and the judges gave him great scores. Andre did some more clean dunks. Then Nate did this horrible other lob from, I think, half court. He messed up 14 times. But, since it was rigged and biased, got 3 tens, an 8, and a nine to send it into a dunk off. In the dunk off, there was more clean and nice dunks by Iggy. Nate again messed up a million times. But, the final dunk, which belonged to Iggy, where he did this ok baseline reverse tomahawk I think it was needed to net him 1 more point which it didn't. He thought he won, but it was a delayed reaction. Andre lost by one point to Nate, who had messed up a hundred times and did nothing too fancy. It is extremely hard to reenact what had happened, and I couldnt really think of much. So I'd like people that saw the whole program (like me) to post their opinions on the dunk contest in general or just about the "scandal". Thanks.
