...wait, Echo, you're not done with it yet? How long have you had that damn thing?

If any others of you intend to read it DEFINATELY get the complete and uncut version of Stephen King's The Stand, it's definately worth it and I don't see how they could've left any of it out having now read the uncut version. Also if you get a chance rent Stephen King's The Stand miniseries thing, I rented the two DVD version of it the other day and I really liked it. Decently old to have some corny "special effects", but it was still good.
I've already read The Stand, the original version. I just recently picked up the new, unabridged, super-deluxe, holy crap this is really good edition. I LOVE the book and this newer version is just that much better - nothing is cut, so get to see just how much of a pervert (or realist - you choose) Stephan King is.

ANYBODY who wants to read a good book that'll scare you out of your wits or make you really think about today's socity and even wether or not there's a higher force, grab this book. But I warn ya - the complete version is a doozy. It's over a thousand pages long, and it's VERY hard to put down.

Awesome! I just found out there's an "And Then There Were None" PC Game.

I need to get my hands on a good book. I haven't read anything new in awhile. Any advice? (Anything but more Clancy books. I want to read something a bit different now.)

Tell me about it. Right now I'm reading three of John Grisham's books, I read The Pelican Brief last year because I just saw it laying around, and now that I've remembered it (and would rather read than do other shit), I've picked up The Firm, The Client, and The Summons. I'm about 400 pages through each of them. Kinda awkward, since I hate reading about the government/law/political bullshit, and that's all Grisham's books really are about, but I enjoy them anyway.

I read a lot of Stephen King last year, and I think I'll pick up another couple after I finish one of my Grisham books. I like King and Grisham mainly because they can write pretty lengthy novels (especially King). I'm the sort of person who gets PISSED when I read a book that's only 300 pages long or something. It's got to be at least five hundred, probably more like 1,000 for my tastes. Short books always touch on a good set up, and then end it when they could've carried it so much further!

I do enjoy a lot of the movies made from King's stuff. The Shawkshank Redemption and The Green Mile are two of my favorite movies of all time, they might BE my two favorite movies of all time.

Reading is good!

EPIC, what kind of stuff do you like? If you liked Clancy, you might like the James Bond books by Ian Fleming. That might be too similar though if you are tired of Clancy. I found them to have very similar writing styles.

I love a good, long novel too. But I hate it when they are artificially padded. I've read some great books that are only about 300 pages and some very bad books that are close to 1000 pages.

Ooh ooh I read And then There Were None! I really didn't like the ending though - I was thinking it would end with something ingenious, but instead it ended with something stupid. Won't spoil it, but I thought it was rather anticlimatic.

Jeeze, what's with you people and being on an actual topic? This is not a book discussion forum! Cheese, I hate ASU, and a quote: The word 'politics' is derived from the word 'poly', meaning 'many', and the word 'ticks', meaning 'blood sucking parasites'. - Larry Hardiman. Much better.

I generally like to read stuff like Clancy. But I'm looking for something different than the war stories. I was looking for some sort of horror or suspense novel. I have cousin who recommended I read the Anne Rice vampire chronicles. But I don't really know. Just looking for suggestions.

On Lasareth becoming an Admin. A fascinating tale of double-crossing, beautiful women, gunfights, mystery, and assassinations.

When that "new" version came out back in the late 1980's(I think) I read it on vacation with the family. It is a great book. Ended up the whole family read that book and loves it.

Another unabridged version book to read is Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein. That book will make you really think....er....grok...I mean
