Question
I'm 34, married with two kids. My problem is computer gaming. I do it day and night, averaging four hours of sleep. Sometimes I play all night, figuring it's better to stay up than be loopy on just an hour. I can't get control of this, and I don't know where to go for help. Do you?
-- Player
Dear Player,
You have an addiction. For some people, playing video games releases dopamine, a powerful brain chemical that makes you feel good. How to kick the habit? Get rid of the dangerous object. Lock the computer, and give the key to your wife. You'd toss your cigarettes if you were ready to quit, right? Separate yourself from the screen before you ruin your family life, your career and your health. If you can't do it on your own, get help from a mental health professional. And don't look for help online; that would be like an alcoholic going to a bar for advice.

At pdxlan whenever a prize was given out, everyone would start saying "mine" until it was actually given to the person that wins.

Knido, it's more common than you think. While I don't know anyone who is that far gone, I do know a few people who need to learn to step away from the keyboard for a while. I've had to step back and re-evaluate a few times myself. It's also one of the major reasons my guild is now completely dead. Online gaming can be a lot of fun, but like anything else, if you don't keep tabs on what you are doing or how it affects those around you, you are in for some serious trouble.

Would saying that I want to work at LAN parties the rest of my life make me an addict? I mean I'd just be working, so I would be a workaholic!
Next post is 1500, I should make it special.

Nah, I think throwing away serious relationships and putting off sleep, eating and bathroom breaks makes you an addict. I looked at the local LAN shop for work too, but they weren't hiring.
and congrats d4n

Does anyone know if you can download a skin pack for GW? 'cause I'd litterely SELL MY SOUL for a cyberpunk/futuristic version of GW. Seriously - just take everything that is GW and make it futuristic, and I'll never play another game again.
Okay, that and maybe more depth in custom armor and such.. I'd like it so you can FIND armor and pick it up and use it, like any other MMO, and that the armor has it's own unique look, and to get the BEST set, you gotta hunt down different sets and use different pieces.
Basically a cyberpunk GW with more goodies and customization. That's what I'm looking for. With open areas. No more paths. Wide open areas.

dunno...since all the information for GW is stored server-side, i'm not sure if we can do anything to edit the skins.
then again i don't have much of a handle on this server-type stuff, but i'm pretty sure that there's no way for us to edit any part of the game.

Eh crap-cakes. I forgot about that. Guess I gotta wait for someone to come along and make the damn game.
At least 'till then I got the beta of Face of Mankind.
