Nooooo... my video card is failing.

As soon as I get a job, this whole box is getting upgraded.

EDIT: It has failed... mostly. It looks like I can't play GW anymore. Everytime I log in, I get flashing bit errors and the screen freezes everytime I click something. I tried to lower my graphics settings, but the freezing was so bad I had to ctrl-alt-del and quit through task manager. /sigh Oh well, maybe it is a sign I need to speed up my job hunting.

Swampy....did you open up your case and make sure your vid card is free of dirt and dust? Re-seat it too. Hopefully it will be something simple. Then on the other hand...a mid range card is not that expensive.

Swampy, If you can, check a top leading European or Americain distributor and try to get a Nvidia 6600. Those cards are mid-high performance for under $200 at the moment.

Did that yesterday, Dood, but it didn't help. Luckily, this card has a lifetime warranty, but this will make the 3rd or 4th time I've had to get it replaced. Stupid cheap fans on this midrange card keep going out and then it gets overheated and I can't do anything graphics-intensive. I keep the case open, but even that doesn't help.

I'll get it replaced again, but it takes about two weeks for everything to go through the mail and processing, etc. When I can afford it, I'm definitely buying a different card.

I run a pair of 6600GTs on SLI which I got for relatively cheap, and they blow away every game I am playing at the moment. They may be a bit outta the range for you Swampy but the what Omega suggested will do fine.

I can't remember if it does. Even so, whatever I do have won't be up to playing games, just surfing. My system is pretty old and I've been wanting to upgrade it for a while.
