Default Blue Frog calls it quits. Spammers Win. The Internet cries

http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,125752,00.asp

The anti-spammer company makers of Blue Frog have surrendered to the mass DDOS they've been having.

I feel very sad about this event. I've seen networks and websites go down to DDOS before. I'm a big IRC chatter and i was there when the mircX network went down. I was there when Aniverse went down.

Its very sad how much power and control botnet spammers have over the global internet.

Believe or not, this touches base with everyone. Cybercrime is very real and destructive. Phishing, cracking, spamming, phreaking should not be allowed to win against legitimate businesses, companies, and networks.

You can only imagine what will happen as technology continues to become more and more intergrated into our daily lives. As technology increases and becomes more important, its an even greater concern that we should be aware and join in the fight to protect the world internet from these criminals and terrorists.

Because these crimes span global networks, many countries do not have the laws and legislation to deal with these types of actions. Countries that do have anti-cybercrime units cannot do anything without violating international laws themselves (spying on a hacker, is hacking itself).

*sigh* i just had to get that off my chest.

It seems silly that spying on a hacker is still illegal. Police can carry a gun whereever they go, pretty much. They can fire said gun given certain circumstances. It seems to reason that governments or otehr organizations should be allowed to hack the hackers, given certain guidelines (i.e. the person is a known hacker).

I was reading an article a while back about this Network security guy, who monitored some activity of a bunch of chinese hackers and gave the info to the FBI. The FBI prosecuted him, because he had to hack some routers in china to get the information. -.o
