Have you???
Ummmm... apparently if you went to Church, you'd hear more about these services. First off the El Dia de Los Muertos is not October 31st, All Hallow's Even, much abbreviated to Halloween. Halloween is the day before All Saints' Day (break out your prayerbooks for the saints), which is than followed by All Souls' Day (get those prayerbooks back out for all those stuck in purgatory). All Souls' Day is normally the day commonly associated with El Dia de Los Muertos, or November 2nd, when dead friends and family are remembered and prayed for. I'm sure that during your plethora of Spanish education you'd come to realize that Halloween is not the Day of Dead, but instead All Souls' Day which is celebrated with mass at many churches in the United States as well as across the world.

Considering that I'm 2nd generation from Peru I don't think I need that first suggestion of yours.
Now, they are not identical holidays, no. But they are thematicaly connected and rooted in similar origins and served similar cultural purposes before Halloween became just another comercial event.
Just because Americans no longer have any modern holidays that hold any valuye beyond a sale at Walmart does not mean they all held origins in Walmart sales.
As the poster above me notes, the two holidays revolve around the same series of days - with each culture having chosen to emphasize a different portion of the theme, and in modern times having gone in very different directions with them. But the roots are linked.

Sorry to go a bit off-topic but I think Chinese new year would be an awesome holiday event considering the Cantha theme. They could do western new year in Tyria and Chinese new year in Cantha.

The formal term for football is 'association football' which was usually reduced to 'assoc'. This, very quickly, became 'soccer.' Dull but true.

Christmas and Halloween have nothing to do with GW.
MORE people watch/know about/celebrate the World Cup than Christmas and Halloween COMBINED. Every country and every religion plays football. Only Christians celebrate Christmas, and basically only english-speaking countries celebrate Halloween (no purpose holiday, by the way...oo yeah, let's ward off evil spirits).
There should have been a World Cup event....FOOTBALL RULES!!!!

God all i ever hear from asians is "meh meh meh america suck omfgorz america is stupid". GIVE US A BREAK. You know not all americans are down right fat lazy idiots. Im american and i care very much about the world cup (go Germany and Brazil!! ). Honestly it has NOTHING to do with guild wars. Wanna put a super bowl every year in Gw? Hell it may not be important to everyone else but its important to America! Try and see what kind of endless hell hole your trying to open.

One thing I have always wondered. Why is american football called 'football' anyway ? Surely it's a deriative of Rugby (or more accurately Rugby League).

Officially Rugby is Rugby Football and was invented by someone cheating at football at Rugby school in England, by picking up the ball and running with it.

OMG! We tied! LMAO... I'm so proud of T&T right now, especially playing a man down for most of the second half. I just have to find a spot to watch the match against England on Thursday.
