What do you believe in?
What do you belive in, religiously. If you feel comfortable talking about it, what is your view of creation? What happens after death? Stuff along those lines.
Well, this seems to be the topic of discussion around the lions arch arenas, so I thought I would see what people here believe in.
As far as I know, there has not been a thread like this yet, if there has I apologize.
I am looking forward to what you have to say
P.S. please dont turn this into a flame war, just post what you believe and dont criticize others beliefs. Thanks

Religious discussion usually gets locked because most of the time it turns into a flame war. However, since you asked, I'll answer briefly.
I'm a Christian. I believe Christmas celebrates the birth of Christ who came to forgive us all our sins. If you want to ask me more about it, send me a PM.

Honestly think this'll start a flame war, but whatever.
Don't believe in anything unless you can prove it. I don't believe in a God, in my mind I know there wasn't a Christ that did all the bible claimed he did, and I don't believe anything else that claims we are anymore than meat with eyes. I believe religion is a tool for violence and that some groups of people who are over religious are a threat which should be delt with. Say what you want, but that's logical to most.

Hehe interesting thread. I'm a Taoist. That is not a religion, per se, but it is my belief. Creation... doesn't really matter to me. We're here. Who cares? Of course this is just an off the top of the head answer. If I thought about it more, it'd be more elaborate. I will at some point.

As long as it is made clear that NO-ONE can comment on, or talk about, any other person's post in this thread - Then this can work.
I am an Agnostic. Some call my form of agnosticism "humanist agnosticism". I do not like that name because it bunches us up with Humanists, which are a different matter.
I have some ideas about human nature some would call radical, but hold more truth than half the garbage "religious" peoples follow.
I don't deny the impact or changes having a belief cuases in someone - but hold it true that humans have more control than they'd like to even think about.

I should probably lock this right now...but I suppose it hasn't hurt anything yet. I think the guidelines do say to keep all religious discussion elsewhere, but this isn't discussion it's more information.
I'll be watching over this thread very closely, keep it purely informative---remember, to each is his own.

I am a Bible believing Christian. I believe the whole Bible is accurate from start to finish. I also believe that Jesus came to earth to die for our sins and that He rose again and defeated death.

Nothing, however ive often wanted to be a monk... lfg, heh
The only "religion" im exposed to is when my niece does something wrong at my house and my mom yells " I am god in this house and you will do as i say"... yup.. aside from that ive been religion free for 17 years and would not change that for anything. However the church down the stree always has a funny comment on their sign so i normaly stop to take a look.

Christian.
I wear a cross necklace, and I pray to god.
Recently haven't been visiting church much on Sundays.
Well, I believe that there is life after death.
What type of life, I don't know.
That's for me to find out.

the bible
"It is like most other ancient books – a mingling of falsehood and truth, of philosophy and folly – all written by men, and most of the men only partially civilized. Some of its laws are good – some infinitely barbarous. None of the miracles related were performed. . . . Take out the absurdities, the miracles, all that pertains to the supernatural – all the cruel and barbaric laws – and to the remainder I have no objection. Neither would I have for it any great admiration"
Robert Ingersoll

Well let me get my thoughts in before "Lock Down".
I think there is a being that allot of people would call God that is a higher Dimensional Being.
We are 3 Dimensional beings....God(Lack of a different term) is a 4th or higher Dimensional Being. This is how He can be anywhere at once. 4th Dimension is beyond our "time & space" because we only can see as far as the 3rd Dimension.
I thought of this while reading Carl Sagan's Book Cosmos. He tried to describe the 4th Dimension by describing the difference between the 2nd & 3rd. He had you take a piece of paper and call that Flat Land for the 2nd Dimension. Take a pencil and poke it through the paper...the "Flat Lander Person" would only see the pencil as it goes though the paper...not the whole pencil....this is how I look at the 4th Dimension....we know it is there...however, we cannot see or truly understand it...therefore we cannot fully understand "God".
EDIT: I hope this thread does not get locked...I am hoping the moderators would use their "trigger fingers" to weed out any and all offensive posts as opposed to simply closing this thread...Thank You....

I didn't read that book but one of my smartest friends (maybe he read it) told me about it.
I don't know what i am. I'm closer to Christian than anything else.

I believe that Paul's avatar is hysterical.
Oh...religion? I was a practicing Catholic once, but am currently not. I believe the Bible is not word-for-word accurate but does contain the right message.
If everyone "loved thy neighbor," then we wouldn't see so many "OMG I WAS SCAMMED" threads here.

I myself was a christian growing up. Of course like the usual child hating it and sleeping during services. My family stopped going for a while, but the last 3 years we started attending and I have decided to read the bible again, this time with my own mind. During the brief time we did not go I had my doubts about certain things, but now I found that you just got to have faith. This being said my life just seems to have gotten better putting faith in God. My life just seems to have become more positive and I cant thank God enough.
I believe in God, and I believe that Jesus died for our sins and was ressurected. I believe in life after death.
Thats all I will say in this thread because I do not want to see this get closed, but I will be watching to see what everyones imput on this will be. I always have an open mind when it comes to peoples beliefs

I know there is a God.
I know there is a devil.
I know there are angels and demons.
I know all of the universe was created, spoken into being.
I know there is right and wrong, that they are not debatable nor changeable.
I know that humans are now, by nature, sinful beings.
I know that God loves us.
I know there is a Heaven, where God is.
I know there is a Hell, where God isn't.
I know that God sent His Son as a sacrifice for our sins, so that we may be reconciled to God through His Son.
I know that Jesus was born of a virgin, conceived by the Holy Spirit.
I know that He was God incarnate, in the form and nature of a man.
I know that He was sinless.
I know that He was crucified and died.
I know that He was raised from the dead.
I know that He ascended to Heaven, where He sits at God's right hand.
I know that all of us will stand before God and answer for our sins.
I know that Jesus' death on the cross, and my faith in Him being who He claimed to be and in His resurrection means my sins are atoned for.
I pray that God will speak to you, and bear witness with your spirit, the truth of what you have read.

You don't know but rather believe there is a God.
You don't know but rather believe there is a devil.
You don't know but rather believe there are angels and demons.

You don't know but rather believe there is right and wrong, that they are not debatable nor changeable.
You don't know but rather believe that humans are now, by nature, sinful beings. (interesting for so many to belive in a "kind god" who created sinful by nature species and choses to punish them for being sinful??)
You don't know but rather believe that God loves us.
You don't know but rather believe there is a Heaven, where God is.
You don't know but rather believe there is a Hell, where God isn't.
You don't know but rather believe that God sent His Son as a sacrifice for our sins, so that we may be reconciled to God through His Son.

You don't know but rather believe that He ascended to Heaven, where He sits at God's right hand.
You don't know but rather believe that all of us will stand before God and answer for our sins.(which based on previous statement that we are by nature sinful plus the fact we were created that way, would that not make God sinful?)
You don't know but rather believe that Jesus' death on the cross, and my faith in Him being who He claimed to be and in His resurrection means my sins are atoned for.
No flaming please - belief is individualism, something god gave us.

I believe in science. In evolution, natural selection, and gravity. In the laws of physics, of mathematics, of chemistry. In things I can touch and see, theories that can be proven or disproven.
