jacobs ladder was fairly disturbing...some of the deleted scenes are rather messed up.
the movie (without spoiling it) is about a man who thinks he is seeing demons in his depiction of hell-on-earth.

wow man. I had forgotten all about this movie. Very weird and kinda hard to understand what the heck is going on
I like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Grudgeis pretty creepy and doesn't have a real "end" to it.
I always was disturbed by The Exorcist too. Especially the "cross" scene.
Um let's see....there is a Japanese movie called Audition that is very freaky. Another weird one is the 1977 movie Suspiria.
ya thats all I can think off right now.

anyways...Ive heard the hills have eyes is pretty good. exorsist: new beggining was good. I also liked amityville horror or whatever its called.
PS: If your looking for scary, do not get hostel. Theres maybe 20 mins of torturing, and the rest of the movie is literally like a porno.

Same, I felt tramatized, mouth was dry, didn't talk much, but zapped out of it and got a dipped ice cream cone from Dairy Queen. Friends are not the best to go see a scary movie with, even when they hide in the bathroom to freak the hell out of you.

Just about any Japanese Horror film is golden in my book. Their culture can be very preverse and really test your feelings about the sanity of the creator.
I think Freaks has to be the scariest thing ever. Why? Because they were all REAL people. No alterations. No special effects.
Hellraiser is my fav. Pinhead's voice used to haunt my dreams as a kid. Eventually I grew to like his voice. Remember kiddies don't always do what the voices tell you. It can get you in trouble.
The scariest thing to me was Arachnophobia. Since I have arachnophobia in real life it did not make this movie easy for me to watch. Being bit 6 different times in my life by spiders doesn't help either. Bastards always get me while I'm alseep. Oh.....did I mention my older brother had a 2 pet tarantulas. Ya, that made life REAL easy.

I am always open to watch a good Japanese horror. Please watch the original Dark Water and scare yourself witless. I heart it.
Also, The Hitchiker with Rutger Hauer (sp?) is especially traumatising, a road movie gone wrong.

Some good picks so far. The bad thing is once you hit a certain age, movies don't scare you anymore... but some really uh... affect you, or really make you think.
So my list of must haves are movies I own, and love to watch. (In order, BTW)
1. Event Horizon - This still gives me the creeps, but it's an awesome space flick. (This is my favorite movie of the genre. Seen it many times, but still have to 'prepare' for it)
2. The Exorcism of Emily Rose - If you like courtroom drama and the supernatural (I do), this movie rocks.
3. The Others - Felt like I got kicked in the nads towards the end.
4. Identity - Same as The Others.
5. Jacobs Ladder - A very trippy show.
6. The Shining - Classic.
7. House - Heh... always loved it when I was a kid.
8. Any movie with Freddy Kreuger, simply for the fact that Freddy has style and really is funny. I bought the NIghtmare collection, which has every flick except Jason vs. Freddy, which I bought separately.
