That used to happen to me when I first started playing the game.. from what I know of the Bethesda release, the game needs a bit of time (a fair bit of time) to cache data on the HDD of the XBOX.. which would explain why after a while after all the crappy caching was done I play fine with no crappiness and lockups whatsoever.
If you mean having to go through a loadscreen everytime you enter a house or something, thats in both versions of the game and the wait times are fairly brief for me so /shrug

We bought the game when we bought our XBox 360 three weeks ago. I find it is a very, very well done game storywise and originality-wise.
Maybe that's just because I got to make a dark elf character...
In any case, what I don't like so much about it is how every single enemy is a one-hit kill(meanwhile it would take them about 128368427634 hits to kill you), how every other second I'm loading a new area (even if I've just been through this 'new area' and turned backwards because I've been going the wrong way... see next point), and the roads are so hard to figure out it's enough to make me want to rip out my hair in frustration to find that I've just been walking for an entire hour only to end up in Bravil when I was aiming for the Imperial City .
Ninety percent of the game needs to be reworked and smoothed out, no matter how fun it manages to be now.

Ristaron,
Try using your map . Go in the direction you want to go.
Mages are one of the strongest attack power you could find. It's the reason why you kill them so fast .
It takes by Thief about 7 shots to take down a goblin. 2 shots while sneeking
Oblivion was made to be a big world. Of course you're gonna get lost in it. The world is unfamiliar to me.

I've been checking various forums about Oblivion and it seems a lot of new players are struggling to cope in the new world and finding the game to be way to easy (usually mages) etc
But something I found rofliciously good was a lot of people were reporting quest bugs only to realise that conversation topics they could have with NPC's are on a scroll ie if you scroll down theres a lot more topics with some of these people (especially quest givers). So a lot of missing quests and bugged quests are people that haven't discovered the scroll functionality XD
I dunno why but it made me laugh hard.. I'm not saying their stupid or silly, I found it hilarious because its wierd that people would think that Bethesda could make this huge awesome game and only have like 5 conversation topics on each npc... "wow.. these things can scroll?" XD

I'm getting very jealous. I need to buy a new CPU, GPU, and a DVD drive before I can run Oblivion, and I won't have enough money for that until Christmas...

Guys if you want a good sword go get the umbra sword. Its southwest of the imperial city in some elven ruins called vindasel. My blade is only at 43 and the sword hits for 15, plus it has no weight at all.
An item I have found usefull is the helm of the deep delver. I think i got it from one of the guys in the three brothers in the imperial city market district. It has light 60ft on self, so you dont have to worry bout torches which is handy when you are an archer like me. It also has disease and poison resist 30% and they are all constant effect.
PS if you want some really good items, go join the dark brother hood and do the bonuses on the missions, they give you some sweet stuff, oh and the best way to get good magic items ive found is to raid elven ruins.

hey guys, I'll join in too I'm not gonna bother posting about my experiences though, as I have a thread for that on another forum:
http://forums.clankiller.com/viewtopic.php?t=1725
Check it out for screens, videos and tips etc. May be some minor spoilers.
As for the guy who wants glass; you need to level up. As you level, enemies level with you. So as a low level, you get low level bandits with low level armour. I have the strategy guide, and I think it says in there that you get glass appearing at around lvl 15 or 20. I've just gotten the full set at around lvl 23 (currently after Daedric; lvl 28 and I only need the helm and gloves ). Follow the roads around; you'll often find a few bandits waiting to kill you there.

Yeah, I discovered map travel for the game just yesterday. It took me forever to realize I had a map...
And I'm a fighter with magic... I mainly hit things with my sword. It takes 1 hit for everything I've currently faced.
The ghosts aboard the Elf's ship in Anvil are the only things I've currently seen that I can't kill with one hit with my sword... and they took two fireballs.

Have you tweaked the difficulty slider at all? I kept mine at default until I started fighting Clannfears and Spider Daedra. They kinda pissed me off
