lol Thats probably becuase thye havent made it there yet. Italy smoked Ukraine. 3-0. Not much of a game unless you like italy. Aregentina just missed pk kicks, thats why they lost. They played even with Germany, they just couldnt hit their PK's.

Yeah, you're right on that. I knew Germany v. Argentina would go the distance since they're just so even. Germany had the better PK placements than Argentina. That one could've gone either way. Italy had it fairly easy against the Ukraine with some great goals and some lucky bounces on defense. Germany v. Italy in Dortmund on Tuesday. That one will pretty much put both countries at a standstill on the 4th of July.
SATURDAY QUARTERFINAL PREDICTIONS
* England v. Portugal in Gelsenkirchen - This can be a dogfight that goes to PK's, or a convincing victory by one side. Portugal will miss two of their starters due to red cards, but they look pretty deep. They'll probably mark Beckham and Rooney pretty tightly, forcing guys like Cole and Crouch to step up. Prediction: Portugal beats England on PK's.
* Brazil v. France in Frankfurt - Aahh, a rematch of the 1998 World Cup Final, where Zidane looks to extend his farewell tour, and Ronaldo looks to continue to dazzle despite his older, larger frame. This could also be a match that goes the distance, with Brazil playing sharply, and France finding their offense. Prediction: Brazil 3, France 2 in extra time.

Ever thought of a career in betting? Impressive call to say the least.
Shame about the game though, absolutely gutted, we played a good game after the sending off and had a few good oppurtunties. We didn't look like winning the cup by any stretch of the imagination at any point in the tornament so I'll get over it, but still, a semi final would have been nice.

Honestly, from watching that game, no. I think the referee did a good job officiating the match, and IMO, Rooney deserved the red card. Kinda felt sorry for Beckham for having to go out with that leg injury. Otherwise, both teams had plenty of scoring chances. And although a couple of the Portugese players missed badly, that was some great GK'ing by Ricardo of Portugal to help Portugal seal the deal. Wouldn't it be fun to see two Portugese-speaking teams go at it on Wednesday, provided Brazil beats France later today?

Not really. I'm not as lucky as some professional bettors are, even though I do some betting myself, albeit playing the racehorses.

I wouldn't call France's 1-0 victory over Brazil an upset, just nothing more than a big win by the French side. Great defense, great marking of Ronaldo & Ronaldinho, and a great free kick that set up Thierry Henry's goal.
TUESDAY - Germany v. Italy
WEDNESDAY - Portugal v. France
* Early prediction for the Final in Berlin: Germany v. France *

Portugal deserved to win more than England, England played like shit compared to what they can and should be able to field.
Rooney is an immature brat, I don't think it should have been red, probly would have been alright with a yellow but seeing someone push another player in front of the ref is something that's very ugly to see in this great sport.
Zizou... Simply outstanding play, excellent passes, great plays... He rocks! Hopes he stays around another couple of years playing instead of retiring.
I'm glad Brazil lost, another final with Brazil would have pissed me off, and even more if they won, and I'm tired of my fricking Brazilian friends boasting about how good their selection is all the time.
Final: Italy - France Maybe I'm a bit biased for Italy (since it's my team) but don't underestimate us, we've gotten better each round, and it's not unheard of (1982) maybe Toni is the next Paolo Rossi .
Edit: Just read some previous posts, refs give yellows for diving inside the penalty area looking for a penalty, I don't think theres any other ocassion where the ref books someone for diving.

Italians are stereotyped as being the ones who dive the most, but really they aren't, all teams dive now a days, even Brazil (Ronaldo specially) that is considered the team that plays fair the most.

I see Germany winning it all now. Italy will play well against them but i think Germany will be able to get a goal or 2 and hold Italy scoreless. Will be a great game to watch!
France will beat Portugal 1-0. They have some offense and Zidane will come to play again. They will just run all over Portugal. As stated before Portugal and trouble with a 10 men English squad, they wont be able to handle a 11 man French squad.
Italy over Portugal in the 3rd place game 2-1
Germany over France for WC. 2-0 France just doesnt have the offensive power to beat the German defense.
