hehe Kaguya i am big fan of Fallout as well but since interplay died on us it looks like we wont be looking at any Fallout gameworlds anytime soon that is not a FPS.

Just saw the trailer for WAR, it looks promising and very nice cinematic.

As for AoC, its caters to quite a selected community of those that read the books and enjoy the world/story surrounding it with MMO elements.

Actually, Bethesda Softworks has the rights for Fallout-series, and they are making Fallout 3-RPG. Bethesda hasn't anything up about it other than the press release from 2004. Interplay [or whoever owns the remains of it] only holds Fallout MMO-rights, but the non-online RPG's can be made by Bethesda, afaik.

War hammer is even more cartoony than WoW, Conan is a little better.

WoW might feel a pinch if the monthly for Hammer is less than WoW.

Conan screenshoots are pretty good, if they clean them up a bit more and make character customization really varried (my GW pet peave), Conan might be a threat to both WoW and GW, although it looks like it is mainly PvP that may switch

At E3, Bethesda was not talking about Fallout 3, but they DID have a Fallout 3 poster up..... Kaguya, check out Hellgate: London. It's kinda like enhanced GW meets modern day world with ugly afflicted creatures. It's made by the people who made Diablo, and they were given a "when it's done" due date, so they haven't stopped adding stuff yet...But it should be shipped in 07...Just noone knows when.

At least to me, Guild wars biggest competitor is going to be a new multiplayer mod for Oblivion.

Did you ever consider that most people don't like Warhammer or Conan?

ArchLord (Release:9/25/06) - Subscription fee
Oblivion (Available now) - Single Player (not in same category as GW)
Warhammer Online (Release: 1/1/07) - Subscription fee (at glance the characters have a whimsical look and feel ... similar to WoW)
Age of Conan (Release: 9/25/06) - Subscription fee

A big part of the success of the Guild Wars games likely comes down to players not having to pay subscription fees month after months as they have to in most other MMO games. Most of us have played the Pay-to-Play games, but consider the amount of money going toward the game.
Typical Subscription Game:
Average game price: $50
Average subscription price: $15 Month/$180 Year
Average Total Cost: $230 for the first year

Guild Wars:
Average game price: $50
Average collector price: $70

ArenaNet/NCSoft goal is to produce a new release every 6-months, so that would mean you would spend $100 - $140 a year for Guild Wars which is a $90 - $130 savings a year from a subscription based game.

((Now consider if you have multiple accounts for a subscription game vs. Guild Wars. I previously played CoH for about 1-year with three accounts ... $690 for the first year.))
In my opinion, the only MMORPG that could beat Guild Wars is another MMO without subscription costs.

The next revolution in MMORPGs, that will break the paradigm of current game development, will be driving factor for me to pay-to-play again. Until then, the games that people mentioned above are basically the same with a new wrapper.

Being like WoW is a bad thing?

That game is a money making machine! I wish I could make a game that could capture $20 a month from many, many players.

Remember there is alot of people who are willing to pay 2 play.

I don't see much damage caused to Guild Wars because most of the player's play guild wars because its a non-p2p MMO and it's much better than most free one's. I see damage caused to WoW and other subscrition game's.

Warhammer Online has been going of for 25 years and hopfully will put the right World PvP that WoW should of.

I would imagine that a large portion of the Guild Wars community would dislike Warhammer or find it rather crappy. But Warhammer to the older gender would be quite popular and with Warhammer 400k it just adds more rep. Warhammer has been going on for 24 years (25 years next year when WAR:Online gets unleashed)

Once Prey gets successful (which it will), Rune II will come out and I shall return to my beloved Viking-battle game. XD

The only reason I bought Guild Wars in the beginning was because it had no subscription fee. The idea of having to pay for a game that I already paid for has never sat well with me. Guild Wars is great fun and I'm sure WoW is also a lot of fun, as well as those other MMO's out there or coming out, but I'll never buy them if they have a subscription fee. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I agree also that the lack of the subscription fee is also a big attraction for me (Which is why i think DDO is the worse MMO ever to be release and will never look at another Turbine relase ever again. LoTRO can go F itself) but seening the direction that Anet keeps going, i am doubtful that it will remain playable as a PvE game for long and with the Chapter sales six monthly, the prices do match up to a conventional Subscription MMO asumming i buy every new Chapter.

I changed my mind a little about Warhammer online though after reading about how EA has bought over Mythic and the poor reputation EA has about bringing MMOs to ruin but i suppose it waits to be seen.

Another interesting theme specific MMO would be Pirates of the Burning Sea

http://www.burningsea.com/index.php

It has been in development for several years behind a delicated team and looks to bring a good balance of PvP play vs Roleplaying experience but probably like Age of conan attracts a specific target playerbase.
