I agree with Doomlord. And one of the persons RL friends got on her account. Thats how they knew she died because she played with one of her RL friends on there.

By the way, in WoW you DO get rewards for kills, for everyone who wanted to know.

It was hilarious. Quite old though.
Honestly, people who arrange such crap in a game such as WoW should not expect any less than that. They're bringing it upon themselves.
edit: Hell, if I could, I'd kill every single person that goes to those annoying ass "boat parties" in RA.

They shouldn't have held it on a PvP server, but on another note: well done for giving those attention seeking immature brats more attention, that's all they did it for and they're getting plenty of it.

I think they got more than just attention for it. Spawn camping was highly prevalent, I believe.

Err.. i would consider this outright a classic case of idiocy on those who did such an act. This nasically points to one thing: it proves simply how childish and inconsiderate these people are.
True its in game but i subscribe to the belief that if u can do this in game what's stopping you to do it in real life? Simple. You know ur going to get owned in RL by the cops.
Shouldn't we at least EXPECT people to act with proper decorum. This actions proves that thoe ones who perpetrated such an act are little more than SOBs in real life as well as in game.
It shows us the sides they keep hidden. They may act prim and proper in front of others in RL but ingame... they're just a bunch of crazy shitheads.
We have a term in my country for this... its PLASTIC.

Well, they had it coming. PvP servers are full of hate and guild drama. I've been there myself. Ganking everywhere. Holding a virtual funeral on a PvP server is asking for trouble.
They should have moved to a RP PvE server. But oh well.

wow... I dunno how to react to that...
On the one hand, that is one of the most sick, twisted things I've ever heard of.
On the other, that was fscking sweet! And they did hold it on a PvP server... Did they have the option of holding the event on a non-pvp server? If so, that was a bad move, but it still doesn't excuse the other guild's morally wrong actions.
In either case, imho, shame on both sides (more-so on the SN guild), but at the same time... *high five*

I read that the reason they held the funeral where they did was because it was one of her favorite places to play. They even had someone sign on with her char so it could be at the funeral too.
One reason SN did this was to get people interested in PvP again. It worked.
If this had happened at a wedding or a generic social gathering would everyone be as upset?
I am not saying what they did was right or that I would have done it but I do think it has been made into a bigger deal than it should have.
Just my 2 cents.

I think SN were jerks for doing it, although some blame rests with the mourners for chosing the wrong place. Scat man is also a jerk.

It was a mistake to put the funeral in a PvP server, but if what Tomarrow says is true, then it actually does seem fitting. If I died, I would obviously want first and foremost a real funeral, but if I had a closknit group of online friends, I would be honored if they performed an in-game funeral for me, because people really don't have to do that kind of thing...it's so easy to hide behind the anonymity of the computer screen. If Serenity Now knew this funeral event was going on, then they absolutely should not have crashed it, and it was a disgusting thing to do. If there was no such thing as police, then would the guild members go to a real funeral and murder and rob everyone attending? It's hard to say with SOB's like that.

I wonder if the riot didn't erupt and the group didn't raid, how long would it take the people to say to each other "when can we leave and play?". Would these people stand around being idle for hours for nothing.

very old hat, I've had it booked for ages
It was in poor taste yes but frankly if your going to be on a PvP server and then your going to declare that you'll be in Winterspring without weapons or armour equipped in the official forums what were you expecting to happen? I'm not defending Serenity for being assholes, I'm just saying it was their right to be assholes and if your going to spit at anyone, spit on the imbeciles that decided to have a funeral online, in-game, announce it, and NOT expect any trouble whatsoever.

First of all I would like to start by saying eveyone in SN (or the ones that did this) are pathetic excuses for human beings. Second I would like to say that just cuz you CAN do something and even get rewarded for it doesnt mean you should. I mean if i became a hit-man in RL and kill ppl for money thats a reward, isnt it? but should i kill ppl for money? NO. Now dont get me wrong i'm not compairing what SN did to contract killing in the sense that it is as bad, only to say that they are miserable pieces of shit, who were probably all molested as childeren (or should be now if they werent) and feel they need to componsate for their lackings. These ppl are the scum of the video game world and probably have no friends IRL. and for all the ppl saying they are assholes, that doesnt cover it, and asshole would go dance on the virtual grave, not kill everyone at the virtual funeral.

bad choice of location?
yes.
did SN have to crash the thing?
no.
personally, if i played WoW (and i dont for this exact level of inherent immatuirity) i would have had my guild members (armed to the teeth) attend the wedding and make sure noone else pulled off this kind of crap.
these SN guys are the same people who drive their gas-guzzling SUVs at 85MPH in a school-zone because the tinted windows hides their identity.
people like this deserve to have their tires slashed and their bases camped.

And what basis for any of those rude comments do you have? You need to get off your high horse for a second I think.
They CHOSE to hold this ridiculous event, "funeral" as you call it, on a P V P SERVER OF WORLD OF WARCRAFT. Notice the bold letters. By signing on to WoW and logging on with their PVP (Note, bold again)characters, they are agreeing that being killed while not in their own alliance's territory is legitimate. What kind of naive and foolish people post on a GAME's forums that they will be holding a memorial service for a dead player? Albeit what Serenity Now did is not the best recourse of action, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. They brought it upon themselves, funerals and weddings and crap like that IN GAME belong on PVE, Normal, or RP servers. If you roll on a PVP server and announce you're having a RP/PVE-like event, you better be damn ready to defend yourselves and the ceremony.
