Hmm. Is that point a good or a bad point? If it's bad, I didn't do it. .
When is the planned "maintiance" for this forum schedueled? Or are the moderators going to wait for the majority of the off topic posters to post what they think?

5 off topic forum games is good enough.
I can see closing a thread at 5k posts, and then give that thread at most 30 days before deletion to make room.
And worldly topics could be alright until people start flaming because of the views of another person... In this case if we were to allow this, more mods would be needed to help control this, even with the use of the "report post" button. I suggest at least two or three new mods that are specifically for the Off topic area(s). Because honestly I've noticed that a few of the mods that are here havent been active all summer.

I think the rules need to be more specific. Do Not Spam isnt going to cover everything. I think that the rules need to be constantly updated as people will find loopholes. The mods will need to keep a close eye on whats going on. They will need to know how many post is too many in a certain amount of time. I know that one member was banned for spamming almost 500 post in around 2 hours. Also i think the activity of the forum needs to be taken in to account as well. I know there have been many times when i was on by myself and almost the whole front page was showing last post by myself. It wasnt because i was spamming, but because no one else was on.

I was going to suggest that but, I figured that if people saw this thread, they would spam less, so the thread woulden't hit the bottom. And if people actualy give a crap about the off topic area, they'll post their opinions here to keep it semi-ontop.

This is my beloved Offtopic area. I care greatly about it. If they want to clean it up go for it. I just hope they can keep it that way. It is going to take alot of work and probably one or two more mods that are purely dedicated to this section. I agree with Unlucky that the world discussion will result in flaming other peoples views. Unless the mods keep a close close eye on it and delete all the flaming post. If they want to make this work they will need mods that are extremely dedicated to the offtopic area. (aka Unlucky Slayer)

Stickies are consistently overlooked. I wanted to make it a topic that would keep bumping so people were aware of replies, etc.

I think that will work Inde. We really need more people in here though. So far it seems that Stalker, Slayer, and I are the only ones with input lately.
Still what mostly concerns me is the world issues. It will lead to politics and then flaming. Too keep this place clean we need to stop the flaming. Yes the report bad post button is their but i am sure that mods and admins get 100s of those each day and can easily overlook one. The only problem with more mods is people getting their toes stepped on. I know some mods are not very liked here and others are not even active anymore. If this place is too be cleaned up I would have to suggest cleaning up some of the inactive mods and maybe reassigning the disliked mods.

Mathematically impossible due to the 30 seconds between pots rule =/
1 minute = 2 posts.
60 minutes in an hour = 120 posts.
2 hours = 240 posts.
Throw in a 10% margin of error = 240 - 24 = 216
That member must be magical =/
We could increase the post time differential to a minute, but I don't know if that would throw off the rest of the community too much.

If you increase it to a minute yes you decrease spamming but you also descrease information. Its hard enough with it being at 30 seconds. The Price Check forum would be hurt the most with that. It would take even longer to PC items. Yes their are a number of forum members that are good at price checking but that doesnt mean your item will get a PC on it.
I didnt know how long he was posting but he got 500 in so many hours where he was posting non stop.
Congrats on the moding Stalker.

Funny i had that same feeling.
Heres a thought, by possibly cleaning up the off topic forum it might actually speed the server up due to less clutter.

It is a possibility, seeing that the other forum that I used to post at completely removed their off-topic and had a decrease in lag. I'm pretty sure I've shown you the link to the guys with 30k posts =/
If you think this forum is out of control, you should have seen mx when the pit was still up. Common threads like: Is it right to go to the bathroom in --- or ---? surfaced everywhere. Then there were spin-offs of the thread by other members which lead to: Is it write to do -crude act- in the bathroom? Avatars caused seizures..swear words on avatars..amusing.

Thats kinda what happened here as well. One forum game was created and then forum games almost exactly like it where made. I agree with you, if we delete those guys with 4mil post it should save some more server space. This site has had major problems with the server lagging due to useless threads taking up space. Also i think that the PC forum needs to be cleaned up as well. That would save server space, probably make it go 100X faster.

It would be amusing if you had to clear every single piece of spam on this forum. Every single "^lol", "QFT!!!!!", "Night.", "SHOW ME UR PICCY", would take you forever.
edit - If threads get deleted, do the post counts go away too? Just curious.
