Something that I need an answer to
1) What the hell is up with the Easter Bunny?
Firstly, what does the rebirth of Jesus have to do with a rabbit?
Most importantly... why does a rabbit lay eggs? What the hell?
2) The Lucky Charms guy and the Rabbit from Trix :
First, the rabbit... Ive seen various times where the rabbit BUYS his own cereal, and then these vandals come and steal it from him! What the hell? Its his damn cereal, he paid for it. So they steal it, laugh at him and say "Silly Rabbit, Trix are for Kids!" If I was that rabbit I'd kick their ass and hand them over to the police. Harrasing me all day, every day and stealing my breakfast. Snot nosed little brats.
Then the Lucky Charms dude... those kids NEVER pay for the cereal either, they always steal the poor dudes breakfast. If he can do magic and all that, why doesnt he magic up a firebreathing man eating dragon and chomp those little bastards? Lastly... does he have a pot of gold? Why dont the kids steal that instead? They could actually afford to buy cereal then and stop harrassin hard working corporation trademarked mascots.
Uh, gotta go, there will be more. Mark my words. This world is confusing and sometimes unfair. I need answer. Now.

1) - Free presents, don't complain, yes it is stupid, but so are most things derived from religion. If you have kids remember to make them atheist.
2) - I don't watch foreign tele

1) For the Atheists (sp?), the holiday-based industry needed to create an avatar for the Easter season. I believe it might have stemmed from a tradition (European - Polish, to my knowledge) where a basket of foods is blessed in church. Among these were certain meats, herbs and spices, chocolates, eggs, ect.
Using the meats as a media symbol would block the vegeterian crowd. The herbs would not be entertaining - I mean... "Yay, it's time for a Parsley Hunt!" Any fruits/vegetables would probably rot after a time, and it would boost grocery store profits, as opposed to the Holiday industry.\
Therefore, the industry picked the egg - it could be colored, easily reproduced in plastic, hunted for without much accident...
Now comes the enigma of the "Easter Bunny." Yes... idiotic. However, I believe someone high up in the Greetings-Card companies decided bunnies were "cuter" than little chickens, which were more associated with fast food, and cast him as a "soft and cuddly" portrayal to the kids - after all, it's the youngest generation that typically falls for all the flashy colors and excitement of the man-made version of Poitically Correct Easter.
2) I think all the idiotic cereal commercials are aimed at kids. I think I'm right. With this point made, the rabbit/the leprecaun are both symbols for... dare I say... adults. The ads speak to babies with all the flashy colors and "cute" drawings. The commercials empower the younger kids, showing how they can get their way. They speak out to certain teenagers in showing how they can rebel and make their voice heard. And, finally, the adults won't feel repressed by the comercial because, after all, how does a leprecaun or a rabbit equally showcase the might of the person paying for the cereal?
Now, keep in mind I've done no research on the topics - therefore, counterpoints or agreements are welcome
Now, that was a fun rant.
My question: How did Halloween become so perdominant? How did all the symbols start?

1: the rabbit and eggs part of easter is from a spring time festival and represent fertility. no one ever said they had anything to do with jesus, its just a different part of the holiday that is more interesting so it gets more media.
2: those kids are just spoiled brats who have deadbeat parents who never tought them to share.
