Wow! That was a great episode this evening. It was the final concusion to a 3 episode arc. This show is one of the best written on TV today.

It had awesome special effect battle scenes however, they were secondary to the back story going on. They keep you guessing all along on what is coming up next.

Anyone that has not seen this show and wants too....get your hands on the DVDs and catch up. Do not jump into it before watching the Mini-Series and the 1st & 2nd seasons. This show is so much more then a simple Sci-fi TV show. Best written TV show in my opinion since Babylon5.

The new BSG became my favorite TV show within the first 3 episodes of season 1. I enjoyed the miniseries when it came out and hoped they would follow it up with a series.

The frustrating thing about it is that when I tell people about it they either remember the old '70s TV show and say, "uhhh...no thanks" or they look at me like I'm crazy and say, "I'm not really into that sci-fi garbage...it's like Star Trek, right?" Well, no. Outside of there being people inside a space vessel BSG has no similartiy to Star Trek whatsoever.

Little do they know they're missing out on one of the most well-written, well-acted, well-shot, and well-edited programs TV has seen for quite some time. It couldn't be less like Star Trek, and the science fiction setting is barely required (except that it's an excellent backdrop for an ongoing action/drama and the special effects are top-notch). The writing and acting beat the pants off of that of pretty much any drama or action series on television right now, including anything on HBO or Showtime. Heck, my girlfriend loves the show and she is not a science fiction fan in the slightest.

At risk of sounding like a fanboy, everyone should give this show a try. You really don't even have to like sci-fi to be able to appreciate it. Go out and rent the miniseries that began the series, watch the first disc of the season 1 set (at least watch '33' and 'Water') and I guarantee you'll be hooked. I've already gotten 3 of my ultra-skeptical friends hopelessly addicted.

Do you really think that Edward James Olmos would do a nerdy "star trek show?" I mean, Olmos takes dumps that are bigger than you, son.

You're either kidding or clueless...or just like laying flame-bait. Trying to catch a flamer, are you?

Yeah, it's ok. I wanted to really like it, but it relies too much on it's science-fictiony appeal and doesn't really have complex ongoing stories or deep characters. BSG, on the other hand, is just a great story with great characters (not at all like Star Trek....AT ALL) and it doesn't really matter if it's sci-fi or not.

I'm not really a fan of much of the other series shows on Sci-Fi channel. Farscape had its moments, but, meh.

The TV/film reviewer at Rolling Stone calls it "the smartest and toughest show on TV."

Also interesting: Time magazine named BSG Best TV Show of 2005.

I haven't really got into it all that much...now lately I "tried" to watch it after BattleStar...but it seemed so thin story wise. I have heard the first 5 seasons are the best. I should get my hands on some DVD sets.

The new BSG is very well directed and pretty brutal story-wise. Set in a sci-fi backdrop, it depicts the horrors of war between humans and cylons and doesn't hold back any punches. It is nothing like the happy-go-lucky sugar-coated series of the 80's... on the contrary, it has plenty of plot twists, suspense, politics, betrayal, mystery, murder, raciness, etc... all the things one would find in modern day late-night drama, but with plenty of special effects.

Yes, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park (the two cylon humanoids) are serious eye-candy.

Sci-Fi channel seems to come out with some great shows from time to time. The other one that really sparked my interest before BSG was, of course, Farscape. They also did a realitively faithful version of Dune and Children of Dune. All of their "Original Movies" seem to have been B-Grade BS, though.

A whole bunch of sci-fi series just hit the air waves vaguely emulating the atmosphere surrounding Lost (Invasion, Threshold, Surface, etc...). So far, my favorite is Surface. It was a little difficult to follow at first, but there was enough originality and plot twists to hold my interest these last few weeks.

Invasion on CBS goes head-to-head vs. SG-Atlantis on Friday evenings, so it doesn't have a prayer of ever being viewed by me. If CBS transfers it to a different, then Invasion might avoid getting axed. It has one fatal flaw: lack of originality. The alien invation premise have been beaten to death on cable... there's no reason to expect this to be any different. No amount of star-power will save the series if its foundation is based on repetitive plots.

If not, then look again at the flight captain if you recorded the episode, then look at www.jessicabiel.com. If they aren't the same person, then the one from last night's episode is a dead ringer.

We get to see what happened to the original Sharon Valleri / Grace Park in the next episode "Downloaded." Boomer died on Galactica after being shot, only to wake up in a new body on cylon-occupied Caprica. Lucy Lawless aka ex-Xena-Warrior-Princess will also be making an appearance as another ever-perfect cylon female.

You will appreciate this show when you are older my good friend. It is not a typical Sci-Fi. Meaning it isn't driven by special effects alone. It has some wonderful effects, but that is just icing on the cake. This show is driven by the characters/story. This is what makes it great...it aways keeps you guessing week to week.

And yes this weeks episode is going to be great....to see the "other side" of the coin will hopefully answer some more questions..and I am sure will add new ones too. *sigh*
