It's just a fad of pop culture... western culture teaches more independence and less dependence on others. So adjusting in a marriage is difficult because you don't work for yourself anymore... It pisses me off too to see such a beautiful institution to turn out this way.

It seems as if people want to be independant both financially and emotionally, some kind of "I better lose you now than in 10 years when I'll be extremely fond of you". A fear of attachment and at some point, of responsabilities. Sometimes I wonder if they even want to make efforts for a couple to work.

Yes, I'm happy with my boyfriend. But it's not always easy. We have to deal with different personalities, budget, the fact we tend to move for jobs, university, etc. But we want to work it out.

Maybe they don't have the patience anymore? Everything is so fast these days, I wouldn't be surprised...
