Saddam Hussein sentenced to death by hanging
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/...dam/index.html
Here's the story on CNN.com, Black Mischief made the clever observation that this sentencing comes two days before the elections, conveniently.
Discuss?
Oh, and... cnn.com has some awkward advertising algorithms, not gonna lie:

Its about time he was sentenced. This was by an Iraqi Council, thus the sentencing. Obviously the US Supreme Court would not sentence him to death by hanging. This was even for a event that happened in 1982, not for any events in the more recent past. It also says he must be executed within 30 days. Wether or not that happns should be interesting. I will like to see this play out.

I didnt mean i wanted to see him hang. I meant i want to see if they will actual follow through with the sentencing. If they do then Iraq may show that they have a more stable government and that they have some power. If they dont then it shows that someone still is running the government over there that shouldnt. This will show the Iraqi people that they can start to believe in their government IF they can follow through with their sentencing.

In fairness to him he did bring stability to an unstable country but that doesn't excuse the mass genocide.

Yeah it will, it's politics.
I'm certainly glad to see something finally done. I agree with Pwn though, if this happens when they say it will then it shows they can make their own decisions and follow through with them.

Hanging? Isn't that a little medieval? Up here in Canada we may not have a death sentence, but we do have something worse... Celine Dion... Yeah I know, it's a little old.
I honously forgot this guy even existed... I guess that show how little I give a crap about current events... I was too focused on the fact The Who released a new album.

Yes he was sentenced by an Iraqi Council, which means their death penalty is different from ours. They don't have death by chemicals or the electric chair. Its either hanging or getting shot to death. Usually hanging is reserved for the commen criminals to try to scare off other criminals.

Whoa I didn't really mean for this to veer off-topic and go political, I was really just commenting about the timing, and the life-insurance ad on the page being ironic >_>
