LOL... i just read that those who tried to preorder during the weekend from TigerDirect got a bad news this morning. Apparently, TD only got at least 50 systems or less and that got over 4000+ peoples preorder the system. Hey anyone here got a preorder from ToysRus?

People, people... Can't we all just stop fighting and wait for all of the consoles to be out on the market for a few months? Then we can see who will really win this console war.

While I don't really care about the console wars (they're stupid really), I do love to add flames to an already dangerous and potentially deadly fire...

I believe that's what one of the Sony representatives said.

If you'll give me a moment, I'll try and find one of those recordings. It's actually a little disturbing to know that some of the fans are actually having what might very well be mental breakdowns because of this... Ah well. Sony will live on, inevitably. Most people think that Sony is screwing itself with the PS3. No. Sadly, they'll still be around. They make more than consoles, you know.

If I were to buy one of the new consoles this year, I'd buy, surprise, the Nintendo Wii!

Why?

I don't know, i might get Xbox360 if i can't get PS3 this year. I mean Gears of War is pretty awesome game not to mention Mass Effect, Bioshock and Halo 3 all coming out next year for Xbox360. Too bad, i don't like the xbox live service where you have to pay to play those games online.

who out here that wanted a PS3 is going to wait tomorrow or Friday morning to get the systems. There is less than 200,000 systems available at launch. Not to mention numerous reports of system problems and unable to play PS2 or PS1 games.

In one class in my school, all we've been studying is console wars for the past few weeks.

I think one strength the PS2 had over the XBox was the GTA series, and that's moving to XBOX360, I believe exclusively. I think that will isolate a lot of the urban market that made business so great for Sony.

I think the Super Smash Bros. Melee series is really a strong point for the Wii. Every teenager I know has played that, and most of my friends drag GameCube controllers around just to play it at other peoples' houses.

Did Sony go back on what they were saying about making one game only work in the first console you stick it in? Meaning you can't use a game at a friend's house, you can't rent, and you can't buy/sell used PS3 games. I know that was an original feature but I thought they took it back.

And the lack of backwards compatibility sucks.

Blu-rays DO hold a lot more than HDDVD discs, but not so much more that it matters. I don't WANT to play a game that takes up 50gigs. I don't want to watch a bagillion cut scenes with crappy voice acting in a turn-based RPG.

Now that launch is over, i finally got my Playstation 3 and i have to say. It's not a bad system but the lanuch titles are lacking in depth. The only good games out there is Resistence (which i got) and few other titles. Where as the Nintendo Wii has Zelda and all those other games that take full advantage of it's unique controller. Anyone here got a PS3 and regret getting it?

Too see how far PS3 goes, you'll have to see how far Blu-Ray discs will go TBH.

I (as well as many companies and many other people [See current Format Wars]) think that Blue-Ray will flop big time like so many other new expensive formats trying to take a market...meaning PS3 would then be meaninglessly expensive because of a Drive Format that will die in a few years..

Thankfully Blu-Ray dropped all of that nonesense about linkage to 1 system, but it was replaced by a crop of other crap that limits your enjoyment of the disc in favor of protecting the plush lining of the big businessmen's wallets.

Most Blu-ray players will, for example, be installed with a self-destruct code so if you try to mod them (to hack region codes, you know) they will stop functioning. I don't think this is true of the PS3 though. The restrictions and such over Blu-ray are this insane though...

I'm still waiting for the PS3 and the Wii. There still freaking sold out everywhere

. Most likely by june/july the PS3 will be in stock eveywhere, I hope.

Ummm, Bestbuy.com and few other websites (circuitcity, Amazon) were selling PS3 in both bundle and just the system itself this week. Try checking the these sites periodically.

As I live and shop in New York City area, there always sold out. I've try 10-20 store's in the tri-state area, every week or so they only thing they got in stock is the xbox 360. Everything is sold out PS3, WII's and even the DS...

There putting about 3-5 units in stores. The demand is so HIGH that people actually wait in the store as the shipment come's in.

My boyfriend and I camped out for a Wii (13 hours, unnecessary we know!) but it was so worth it. I even got my mom into playing, which is something I never thought would happen. The PS3 is hardly breaking $600 now and people in my area are actually starting to return them because they aren't selling high anymore. IMO, I'm glad I invested in the Wii and not the PS3, it wasn't a money issue but I'm just not thrilled about the PS3 (although I am very impressed with the graphics)

Of the three current gen systems, only the Wii managed to launch with good titles (zelda anyone?). The first big series besides madden that'll come to the PS3 will be Vitrua Fighter 5 in feb. And then after that, it'll probably be closer to next Christmas that we start to see more good games for it. Besides resistance, the closest thing to a good lauch title for it is FFXII for the PS2.

Frankly I can't imagine why the console makers don't try to push for a better set of launch titles when their consoles release. The PS2 and XBox were pretty much the same way too. Though didn't Lumines come out when the PSP did? If so, the PSP had a great launch. Lumines is probably going to go down as one of the top 5 PSP games of all time.
