It is Heroes and Ectos not Hero's and Ecto's
Yes, I'm a grammar nazi, but one with an education.
Thank you.

I hate morons too. Specifically, people who can make a little effort to understand their native language. If you have dyslexia or another learning problem, you have an excuse, but I have known dyslexic folk that understand how to use apostrophes.

Just for future reference.
Moron: A psychology-related term for a person with a genetically determined mental age between 8 and 12.
Also, don't mock others when you are no better, your post is by no means perfect.

1. A stupid person; a dolt.
2. Psychology. A person of mild mental retardation having a mental age of from 7 to 12 years and generally having communication and social skills enabling some degree of academic or vocational education. The term belongs to a classification system no longer in use and is now considered offensive.

I corrected my post but it didn't update correctly, despite it saying so underneath. You know how I know this? I always proofread my posts.
So you are wrong, try harder next time. Taking the second listed meaning of a word and ignoring the first is ignorant.

It's the internet and schools don't teach proper grammar anymore.
Hell, even my teachers used to "correct" my work from being right to being wrong.
People also tend to be fairly lazy when they type in-game. However, it's totally retarded to type like an uneducated moron on a forum.
Grammar! Punctuation! Spelling! PLEASE!

Oh well, I'm not really a spelling Nazi, but a few common mistakes get on my nerves. Obviously it's only apparent if I complain and not when I turn a blind eye. I guess I shouldn't call people morons, just lazy.
As constructive advice to those with poor spelling skills, download the latest version of the Firefox bowser from www.getfirefox.com. This has a built-in spell checker that might help you spot mistakes.

Ok well I just typed a message in and it didn't show up.
Well, I was just saying that maybe I shouldn't call people morons and that I'm not a complete spelling Nazi. A few common mistakes in spelling, punctuation and grammar really annoy me. As constructive advice, the Firefox internet browser can be downloaded from http://www.getfirefox.com, and it includes a built-in spell checker.

Apostrophe abuse must stop. Think of the children!
A couple simple observations that might help someone: apostrophes generally indicate either possessiveness or a contraction. They never indicate a plural condition. If the word you're trying to write does not possess or have something, then leave the frickin' apostrophe alone!
I know it's a hopeless cause. Far too many people just don't care about getting things right.

I, for one, always try to use correct spelling and grammar while in-game. It really helps reduce the number of misunderstandings (and improve the mission success rates) in random PUGs when players communicate well. It also helps immeasurably when trying to get people to trade with you if you can give a coherent announcement of the items you're trying to shift.
I don't pretend to know all that much about PvP, but having observed a good few GvG replays it would seem like strong communication skills are important for success there as well.
It's amazing how much correct spelling and grammar can do to improve things for everybody.

Actually, I always thought the correct spelling was "heroes", but after seeing
"heros" so often, I wasn't sure anymore. I asked a friend and she insisted that "heros" was correct, while I stuck to "heroes".
Next, I looked it up in a dictionary and the dict listed both as correct! Problem solved. Dictionary listing

But it's just a game, why do we have to be grammatically correct in there?

Because everything you do impacts everything else you do. Once you decide to be one kind of person in one place, and another kind of person elsewhere, you now have two personae. Which one is the one you prefer to be? Choose one and only one. If you prefer to hold yourself to grammatical standards, use them. If you don't, stop pretending.

Fascinating. Thank you. I read it all. Good to know that heros (no 'e') is only correct when referring to the plural of hero sandwich.
Btw, that was for my own edification. I have an ongoing education in that I love learning. I also have an ongoing love affair with language, but I'll be damned if I will ever let someone else's choices about or familiarity with language bother me. If I understand what they're trying to say, that's good enough for me. If I don't understand, I ask for clarification. I'd rather enjoy the people I'm communicating with than be right.

People are stressed and frustrated at work. At home, they aren't.
People dress up and look nice for going out. At home, they don't.
People wear sunscreen when going to the beach. At home, they don't.
According to you, everyone is "pretending" about something. How about just not being so anal about other people's choices?

"Ecto's" and "Necro's" are both valid because they're abbreviations. We substitute the missing letters with an apostrophe to indicate this.
"Hero's" is just wrong.

Yeah, I thought it was "ectoplasms" not "ectos". Seriously, you're performing a molestation of grammar when you call ectoplasms ectos in the first place. Why not go all the way? While straight up bad grammar irritates me at times, little things like apostrophes don't bother me. Things like "plx" and "l33t" bother me.
