Soviets cool?
Well, I've been exploring multiple internet communities. And one thing particularly drew my attention: Is Soviet Russia trendy?
I mean, look at it: I've seen guilds called CCCP, CPSU, USSR, The ever-popular "In Soviet Russia..." joke just doesn't seem to fail, being communist is "cool" and well, maybe Stalin wasn't that bad after all :P.
What is your take on this, do you see what I see?

Soviet Russia won the second world war, NOT THE USA. anyways yeah i think stalin ruled with an iron fist but withought him i think russia would have collapsed against the german invading forces (at the time the best equiped military force). he turned a backward country in to a military superpower, though he was brutal and cruel, but also rember they were facing an enemy that deemed russians racially inferior. i used the bolshevik party (USSR) as my guild because i think the red army achieved the impossible, i also think its a powerful achoring ideology as to have loyal guild members (all of them are officers, as we are all equal), though the main reson i founded this guild with a friend was to win hall as the bolshevik party, totally priceless.
we are currently looking for a soviet alliance but there not as common as one would think

I'm in CPSU, and it's alliance leader is CCCP. There are a few communists in CCCP, so you could call us a Soviet alliance, we're not intentionally a Soviet alliance though.

The invading German Army was completely inferior during Operation Barbarossa because Hitler committed the same mistake Napoleon did back in the late 1800's. He attempted to use the relatively new concept of the Blitzkrieg on an immense territory and had his forces caught completely off guard not by the Russian Army, but the Russian winter. Troops were not supplied with the appropriate clothing, and the treads on German tanks would begin freezing because they weren't built to handle such extremely cold temperatures. Coupled in with the Russian strategy of total war (pillaging and burning down their own oil reserves and villages to prevent German troops from acquiring them) and you can see why the offensive was stopped.
True, the German army scored major victories during the spring and summer, but once the winter hit, they were sitting ducks.

Very true.
For those who are wondering, CCCP stands for "Souz Sovetskih Socialisticheskih Respublik" Union of Soviet Socialist Rebublics

It makes light of the parallels between Capitalist America and Communist USSR since these were the two most prominent superpowers of the 50's and 60's. So if you drive a car in America, logically the car drives you in Russia.
It’s a silly night and day concept, although I have to admit some of them can be pretty funny.

A person I once knew in HS had an interesting thesis that I think bears a lot of truth; True communism has never come to pass in our lifetime, because it has been corrupted by man's very nature. Humans, as a whole can never ever see each other as a true equal 100% of the time, so how could a system that's taking such a concept to the next level ever work?
I'm personally not a fan of communism because there's no incentive for me to do the best I possibly can for as long as I possibly can. In a communistic society, all the fruits of my labors would not be all that better than someone who contributed very little. While I have big problems with the way capitalism has been exploited (by the very same nature of man that prevents true communism from working), I still think it's the better system between the two.

yeah the offensive was stoped in large part due to the winter, but they did it with really badly equiped army (i dont see how they had the advantage), took the most losses often sacrificing thousands of men of semi unarmed men into machine gun fire, officers are known to have shot those who retreated. and although they did kill the most germans they took more losses than all the other allies added together. the eastern front took the brunt of the fighting as the allies delayed their invasion and opening of the western front, making it a far more desperate fight against an enemy with superior weapons and organization. stalingrade was literally just ruins, in a sense what makes the russians so awesome is that they won at such a disadvantage. in my opinion it was more of a battle of wills, of refusing to let go of cities such as stalingrade for there symbolic value, of refusing to allow another nation to proclaim itself racially superior to the russian people at whatever the cost.
