EA buys bioware
Another one bites the quality dust in return for sales. In plausable future news, the Sims team is taking over the NWN franchise and planning to make it a "fantasy-based" Sims franchise.
BTW, when are we going to see E A Buys Bio[Ware] win the HoH?

I literally want to cry. Such a bloody waste, I can't believe they actually sold.
Such a bloody waste.

Hear that? That is the sound of Nuclear fallout as the good games formerly made by Bioware are annihilated by EA and they ubercrappy "games."

For many years Bioware was a guardian of high quality and much love RPG games. Before the dark time, before EA.

No, the golden days will live on. Only the future is screwed. I can only hope this won't affect Mass Effect.

EA and Microsoft are apparently in a race to see how many game franchises they can gobble up and skullf*** into irrelevancy.

They've got the madden and sims franchises right now... they could probably buy blizzard next week if they wanted to and refuse to make a WoW sequal a la UO.
That said, is there any upside to this?

This really made me sad... who does that leave?
Blizzard, D3 may be good. SC2 should be good. And they aren't going anywhere since, well, WoW keeps them so well funded that they are immune to publishers.
Relic + THQ maintaining the Dawn of War series and have backing from Games Workshop.
CDProjekt - The Witcher, which looks to be awesome.
And as yet it is uncertain whether or not BioWare will survive.
Some of the great companies that were lost...
Looking Glass Studios - went bankrupt and now Ion Storm + Eidos butchered the Thief series.
Sirtech - bankrupt and now the Wizardry series is ended.
Westwood - bought by EA, now they're gone and no hope for a Nox 2
Bethesda - Oblivion, enough said. Did Microsoft murder the Morrowind team or something?
WTB Nox intellectual property and rights.
