/signed on this post, /unsigned on thread. I also think post counts should be void if they contain pictures of kitties or "+1."

/signed... I don't really mind either way, but I'd prefer it if it counted.

Don't flames in Riverside or agreeing with another Price Check person kind of make post count meaningless? There are lots of pointless posts all over, not just in the OT.

That is what I want to aviod, thus the big long posting explaining that. I don't want people posting that kind of stuff, that is why it needs to be reported, that is spam.

Hmmm, maybe there needs to be an anti +1 script.
Like if there is +1 in someone's post it doesn't add to post count.

Well flames should be deleted right? *looks at mods*
I guess /agree isnt really much of a post, but letting the op know you agree gives them the idea the original price was accurate. And yea i think there are people who abuse it.

i guess they could remove /agree from post count to, sorts the poeple who do accually agree from people who just add to post count. ppl would do .agree ofc but we could report that i suppose.
It will never be truley fair i guess, and its not like its such a big deal but removing it from here is a good start. Mabay if possilble limits could be on certian threads (like "the above poster is above me"), probs more work than its worth though.

Honestly, do +1s affect you this much? I mean like, does a higher post count mean you're good or something? I'm quite confused. Post count means nothing.

Flames get deleted. Agreeing with a PC is helping someone. Spamming in OT isn't helping anyone.

Do you realize, on the old forum skin we never even had post counts listed?

Yes I do remember that. But we still got a +1 to our post count even though we couldn't see them.

Some people are only in here for +1, but many people are in here to make a few jokes and generally get away from the major amounts of QQ'ing in Riverside and Sardelic. Yeah, it's nice when I go from Frost Gate Guardian to Krytan Explorer, but seriously, I did not even notice until a day or two later. Off Topic is meant to be OFF TOPIC!

ffs, dude. You've been here a month and already have 500+. Perhaps you should spend time away from this site instead of fixating upon the e-peen.

Hmmm, post count is to count posts. This is a post. Therefore +1 to my postcount wherever it is. Common sense?
/signed, unless it is a really spammy pointless thread. IMO, if it's not meant to be read (what are you listening to atm, what is your fav food/similar), just posted in, then the +1 is noted elsewhere on the profile, but not added to the count. Perhaps we should have: 1234 posts (2.64/day, includes 1233 spam posts). Of course you wouldn't put 'spam threads', but something to that effect.

It's not possible to remove post count to a specific thread, which is why the whole forum suffers from this horrible plague of no +1s.
Anyways, nobody has told me why this is such a big problem yet. Anyone care to explain why you think post count is a huge deal?

From what I'm gathering, and what I'm reading, some people just want high numbers. And that's fine, really. All I want are opinions on this.
Marty, trust me, common sense doesn't elude us in this case. But some people are using this forum as a tool for purely upping post count, which is something we want to avoid. Sometimes things aren't as simple as cause and consequence. People have ulterior motives
So how would you guys offer to fix the spam problem, besides being mods? Any suggestions would be valuable to me.

On the original idea presented by the OP: /notsigned. There's absolutely no need for it.
Quality is more important than quantity. On a forum that I help run elsewhere on the internet, one member has notched up well over 40,000 posts (and that figure can be doubled once you factor in all of his other screennames that have been permabanned over the years); despite that, he's still the biggest forum noob I have ever met. The crux of the issue is that it doesn't matter how high your post count goes - if you can't add something constructive to a discussion, you're still going to be seen as a noob/troll/cretin regardless.

I was also promoting quality, thus all the rules. I don't want people coming in here with one word posts or +1 posts. I want good discussions. Some threads such as the game threads that can not be helped. Other threads it can be, such as the OT thread. There people can hold intelligent conversations if wanted. But I don't want to see any random posts that are just upping post count.
As for what to do, report any posts you see as just spam. Yes it is going to put the moderators a little overboard with posts to check out but if it cuts down on the +1 posts then that will help. It's not really something you can watch people 24/7 on so members are going to have to help out. If someone has made a completely pointless post in a legitimate discussion thread, report it. Needs to be done more often, and if so maybe we can eliminate the spam.
