Petition to restore post count in the OT
Hello everyone, as you may or may not know the post count in the Off-Topic & the Absurd section has been removed. No matter how much you post you will never get credit for a post.
Now before you start saying that the only reason I made this petition is because I am "God of Spammers" think first. I am not doing this for my benifit, rather for the benifit of people who want to work their way into the community of Guru.
Many people start in the OT section when they first join. Why? Because it is safe, they don't have to worry about trying to join a discussion thread in the Riverside and be called a "n00b" or "troll" because they don't have any posts in their post count.
Also why should this be the only section like this? Is this discrimination? This has alot more meaningful posts then that of the Price Check, Sell, Buy, Give-away, and High-end sections. Heck in the Price Check area someone can go to all the different threads and simply /agree with someone and stat a random reason why. That is an easy way to get 50-100 posts in an hour depending on how motivated you are. So why should it be that by you joining in with the community and talking to other members, you recieve no post count/credit? Doesn't seem fair to me.
Now I will say this new restriction on the OT is PROBABLY due to some people. I have noticed an increase of spam in some threads. The Off-Topic thread being on of them. I saw alot of nonsense chatter. Look if you want to post, GREAT! By all means post away, BUT please follow the rules and make it so someone else can join in on the conversation. Posts such as "ya whatever your mom" or "wheee post count +1!" are not legitmate posts. DO NOT POST THESE THINGS! If you can not answer your own posts DO NOT POST IT! It will cut down on the spam. Also one word posts in a DISCUSSION thread is also something I personally see as spam. Things such as "lawls" or "roflmao" are spam. Do not do! Posting one word answers to games, such as Word Association, is alright as long as the rules allow it.
Here are the rules for people who have never read them before. Please follow them.

Have fun and enjoy our forums.
Please do not spam these games excessively and keep your posts within the rules of the game that you are posting in and you will not have any problems.
All threads will run until they reach 5000 posts and then they will be closed and a new thread started.
The Off Topic Thread Part _____ will run until it reaches 750 pages and then it will be closed and a new Off Topic Thread will be created.
Even though this area is designed to be a little more random and spammy than the rest of the forums, please keep it within reason. And please please please use the "Report Post" button ( - located under a poster's forum profile) if you feel that a post is breaking any of the forum rules and then a Moderator will take a look and take the correct action.
All in all... Have fun while you're here.

This should fall in-line with the forum rules, but 100+ posts a day is considered spam and can land any user who takes part in it in a precarious situation.
You will be warned a minimum of three times before a temporary suspension.
If you continue upon your return, your post count may be reset. Your post count will be relinquished if this is done, provided you comply with the guidelines set out by the administrator responsible.
If you decide not to comply, but to retaliate, you will be banned from the forum. Four chances are more than enough, and if by this point you haven't agreed to comply then you have blatantly disregarded our forum guidelines and have shown that you do not care what happens to your account.
Thank you.

Lately we have been getting more then usual, yet forum members still seem to post in them with "+1 posts before it gets deleted", and yet we receive NO reported thread emails for it, then we get complaints that they are there for 5+ hours.
If you see one of these threads, DO NOT POST IN IT, simply hit the "report post" button at the bottom of each users post.

Those are the rules, please follow them!
Now that I have gotten completely off subject, I will return to the point. The Off-Topic should be allowed to have a post count. It is a good starting point for people who don't want to be seen as trolls in GW related discussions. Please restore the post count in the OT!

Summary: We're a little tired of the number of useless posts, so basically what it comes down to is more people need to be more constructive and it may be restored. This includes the dumb crap people feel the urge to post in porn/spam threads.
That's the skinny.

This is one of the few sections that's actually fun to read, unlike Sardelec/Riverside etc which contains a LOT of whining. I just love this section because of the freedom. And yes I agree the "LLOLOLZ +1" guys just deserve a ban, just like the "ROFL...........12 characters" guys, because they do not add anything to the threads.
Now, not that I care that much about post count titles, but it's still sort of a small group screwing the rest over.

Ok but the question that hasn't been addressed at all yet:
Why is post count important to everyone? Are you guys more concerned with upping your title track than with making and reading posts? I thought the point of a forum was for the posts not the numbers.
And that doesn't mean I'm not taking anything into consideration, I'm just curious.
Spam can move out of OT... it'll get deleted sure.
Our mods are actually doing a fine job of deleting spam topics most of the time. You guys can't see them though because they've been deleted.
And, concerning new posters in riverside, can anyone show me a substantial amount of unique posts by different users that pull the low post count card? Because I don't see it happening on gwg very often.
Sure PC forum users giving checks are spammy. And maybe they should have the same restriction. I just want to test the waters here first

I don't really think it is because of wanting to increase our titles. Some of us can't even increase them anymore. (Such as myself) It is more the satisfaction of knowing that when you do post this you get +1. For some people I am sure it is working towards their next title. Others it may not be. It really varies for each people. For me it's the satisfaction of knowing that by posting this I get a +1 and yes I do only feel this satisfication when I do post something constructive.

/signed because there is no real reason behind that.
I find it just funny that, as you say, people will judge you by the number of post you wrote, and that at the same time you want to count spam (look at the OT thread its just spam) in that. Inteligent post > post count

I had s thread only a couple days ago in Q&A wondering why I wasn't getting my post count up. Then noticed it was only the posts in OT that weren't being added. Requested my thread being closed when I posted somewhere other than OT and got a post upping, thinking it was a one time server glitch or something. Apparently I was wrong, post counts were removed not too long ago? As it turns out, I like being able to post here and get my count up...
