It's because we are jealous of people who's spirit hasn't been crushed by life.
It's all about the jealousy.

Way to stereotype me just because I'm that age. I'm 14 and, while a little arrogant when I think I'm right, I know when I'm wrong and I admit it. I know better than fighting for a pointless cause, so I give it up and walk away when it's useless.

Anyways, being a 14 year old and all, I do take offense when others think that just cause I'm that age I'll be an immature little runt. No. I won't unless I'm having a lot of fun or you've really infuriated me.

Regardless, people will still want to say that 14-year-olds are immature because one rotten apple spoiled the whole bunch. gg nubs.

Well, although there are fourteen year olds who somewhat have a mature mind,
theres not a lot of them. But there always will be those children who are immature, and ignorant. Children who do not abide by the saying.
"Treat others how you want to be treated"
It could just be the way their raised, if television spent more time raising them then their parents, (Sadly I believe that is the case). I believe it's personality wise. If you have an ounce of common sense it shoulden't matter what age you are.

I'm 15 and don't laugh at/get angry about the following:

Penis jokes
12 year olds who like to repeatedly tell me how much bigger their penis is than mine (only applies on the internet, because he is of course lying)
People who call me noobs (try hero/henching, it reduces the problem)
etc

Alot of other people in my class though, God help them, lest they continue their paper throwing exploits into adulthood.

MOST kids like to flaunt their "skillz"...makes them feel important. That's a big thing to a kid...I usually just ignore it. This is the reason I don't like vent or ts for games...most people playing these games are kids and just really start annoying me by talking about junk I really don't care about.

I dont mind kids in the guild I'm in..if they can play then so be it. It's when they start fights and junk that I get fed up and tend to kick them (if I'm an officer)...

I haven't kicked anyone recently because the leader of my current guild and the other officers tend to think like me and only invite the cream of the crop whom they know pretty well already. Some slip through the cracks and we whip them into shape (or out of the guild altogether)...but for the most part they're alright.

If me now and me at 14 both existed together, I'm pretty sure I would have hated my 14 year old self.

I've known some decent young players and some terrible ones. Those terrible ones can be terrible for a variety of reasons - not just 'immaturity'.

Perhaps they meant it as 'unpleasant', as in 'wow, fighting that/dying like that was as unpleasant as being invaded by a large burly man!'

Stereotyping sucks. If I follow the trend, I am a thug who mugs old ladies and steals their money, uses it to buy drugs and get drunk and will end up with a criminal record. In actuality, I am far far from that, but I'm stuck with that stereotype because of my age, where I live and so on.

I started gaming at the age of 13, playing UT2003. Growing up in a world where shit talk is "lol noob" and the good players do actually NEVER speak taught me alot. I was chatty, sure, but I focused more on the play than on the people. In an FPS like that (and NO Counter Strike was TOTALLY different) then people don't care how old you are. It's fast-paced, full of action and if you stop to type, there isn't a "might" about it, you WILL die.

After that, I played an RTS. I made a "guild" (AKA Regiment on there) and it grew to a massive size. At one point, I was the regiment leader of around 200 people, which for a game of it's size was pretty impressive. 1/7th of the lower-planet xD In that game, I was around 14-15, and I met alot of immature 20+ year olds as well as immature 13+ year olds. Alongside those, however, were mature people between ages 12 and 30 or so, and I found I got along well with them.

In GW, I meet alot of younger players who I get on well with. I mean for gods sake, it's a game. Stereotyping ALWAYS happens, but personally, I don't see a problem with 13-14 year old kids. They can be funny, generous and always seem to be willing to do stuff with other people. Everyone from every age group has the capacity to be a cybertard. I judge people on who they are, not how old they are.

I've got three kids... 17, 14, and 11. The 11 year-old is spoiled rotten, despite all my efforts to make that no so. The 14-year old is indeed immature and a bit goofy at times.. but otherwise a good kid. My 17-year old is actually the problem child. He wants so bad to be treated like an adult already but still wants to act like a kid. Like a majority of the kids in his age range (at least in my area), he has such an overblown sense of self-entitlement, that he gets completely obnoxious whenever he isn't getting his way IMMEDIATELY. At that point his maturity level descends far below that of your average kindergardener. He and the majority of his friends (14-17 generally) also seem to delight on picking on and distressing anyone they feel they can get away with harassing.

From my observations of todays teens, they definitely, as a general rule, don't act like the kids did when I was that age. There are definite exception to this generalization of course. A very very few of my sons' friends as well as a few of the friends of my 11-year old daughter, do act a bit more mature. Sure it isn't fair to the exceptions to lump them in with the majority, but that's the way the world works. I always attempt to treat someone the way they deserve to be treated, based on how they behave, regardless of their age.

Some of the behaviors displayed by kids are the fault of their parents for not raising the kids properly and a lot of it is due to peer influence. Unfortunately it is getting more and more difficult to discipline your children when they get out of line. It seems like you can't look at your kids cross-eyed any more without the government sticking its nose in and threatening to put parents in jail and take the kids away. So a lot of parents are forced to all but stand aside as their kids go down the wrong path if talking to them doesn't do the trick.

Hormones ftl... the 15-17 year olds are the problem children. 12-14 are typically immature, but you have to remember, they are still kids (I don't think teenager starts until your 15, but w/e)

I am so glad I am not that age anymore...god have mercy.

On the topic of maturity and young teenagers. This Quote from ZoS forum is very very true imo.

This is actually false. Sure they may not have a job but they might of had a child. Part of being mature is to put aside your true feelings. If you can fake being mature, then essentially you are being mature. For maturity, you need to show empathy. Online, we are not talking about having a job. We are not talking about having a child. Maturity online only needs to be someone writing with fairly decent grammar, able to hold up a sensible conversation and not just act like a general idiot. It is often the older people who have had a bad life, jealous of younger people and say 'ur' not 'you're' who are often the immature ones.

Note that this paragraph is littered with illiteracy and a statement as if it was fact. The literal meaning isn't necessarily what we mean by calling people immature. If I call someone immature, the last thing I am saying is they haven't developed 32 DD's yet; however, by calling them immature that is in a sense what I am saying.

For the male, after the age of 26 the brain tends to deteriorate. Maturity is relative, and statements like 'I want to be with older people'. Is usually a insult made at a twenty year old, saying they behave like a young teenager. It is a poor insult made by someone that has no creativity or intelligence to gain some creativity in order to insult one properly.

But there are so many of them...

I'll never understand why butchering the English language is "cool".

Oh, by the way, I'm 21.
This post is a classic example of 'butchering the English language'. People that think just because they type full words have good grammar are a complete joke.

If all forty year olds were playing this computer game (during the hours 9-5). Would I consider the game a game with a mature community? Not at all. I'd wonder why they didn't have jobs. Maturity isn't about calling someone over the internet, immature.

So we all do it sometimes. Don't get me wrong. One can be mature for their age too, it is all relative. People mature at different ages. The game is for twelve year old's and upwards in my country.

They all will learn when life smacks them in the face.
Kids are kids most have no concept of a job a income, and the cost of living.
