Sweet, I knew that they had genetically transfered the genes of a jellyfish that glows into fish, but I didn't know they were working on getting cats to glow. That is pretty neat.

I read about this in the newspaper this morning. How would you like to be woken up in the middle of the night and have some glowing thing crawling on you?

Think of it as an organic night light.
I'd so get the cat on the right.

They do not Glow in the dark. They glow under ultraviolet light, scientists have tweaked the genes of the cat on the right, Both cats are 1 in the same. The cat on the left in the original cat the one on the right in a CLONE that has had its Genes changed as to make it glow under ultraviolet light.

Now if only they could find a permanent cure for allergies to felines, so I could get a kitten for my woman.

chaocats, freaking awesome
they mentioned something stupid here.
"we can clone endangered species"
considering some of them are endangered because of us, this is bullshit.
Just let them breed naturally!

So wait you're saying they shouldn't clone them, making it easier for them to breed and in some ways reversing what we've done... rather, they should let them breed on their own... which they're having a hard time doing... because of us.
You sir, win.

You miss the point.
Pandas for example are endangered and have very low sex drive, which means they don't reproduce easily.
Then you have to factor in minimum viable population. If a population is too critically endangered, it becomes very unlikely they'll survive without intervention. Inbreeding is another problem...
Last of all, I think an important part of that research was identifying genetic diseases and working out how to cure them. Cloning endangered species is a side-effect of their main research.
