I really wasn't sure whether to post this on Off-Topic or on Technical support, but here goes...

I go to Polytechnic next year and depending on the course I get into, I will either have to get a MacBook or a Windows Laptop. If I get the course requiring the MacBook thats awesome on two different levels because that course is a good one and I get to use a MacBook. If I get into the other course it sucks on two different levels also because the course isn't as good and I have to use a Windows Laptop which I don't want.

It will be the first time in my life I get a laptop, so I would like to get something I like because I will be sticking to it for at least 3 years.

So, supposing I get into the course requiring a Windows Laptop, I have decided that I would rather get a MacBook with a Dual Core and load Leopard AND XP into it. The MacBook is 2Gghz with 2 Gigabytes of memory.

So would it work? Would it be slow and sluggish? Would it crash often? Anyone ever do this before?

I was an intern with the Pennsylvanis State University Education Technology Center, and we supported macbooks, macbook pros, and assorted other macs. We used a program called parallels. (Which enabled a user to run another OS on their desktop. While in OSx.)

I have also ran XP Pro on one of them, as a dual boot. I installed, and played GWs on said machine just fine.

Dual Booting windows on a mac won't be a problem for you, buddy. It won't be slow, and it won't slug. You will have all the opened doors (gaming and application wise) of windows, wile also being able to run OSx.

Get the Mac book, and use bootcamp to install XP or vista next to Leopard. Bare it mind that you still need all the drivers, protections stuff on the windows side. As for the game it'll run as good, even better not just GW as well.

Alright, thanks alot for the info, it really makes me alot less worried. And im pretty sure you guys know what your talking about. Especially since one of you has a Mac as an avatar :P

Oh one more thing, is it very complicated to install XP onto the Macbook? Can I do it myself with a Dummies guide or should I send it to a computer shop?

All bootcamp does is partitian your hard drive a certain type of data structure. Windows uses NTFS, while OSx is HFS. Because OSx isn't NTFS, you have to partitian the hard drive for NTFS. It's like taking a slice of apple pie, and turning it into Lemon pie.

To the greatness of computers, you no longer need Jesus to make water to wine. :P

But in all seriousness. Windows install is not hard at all. It's basically watching a progress bar go from left to right with a couple easy, streight forward questions tossed in so you don't get bored. (Though it is boring. I suggest going and making your self a snack beforehand/during.

) I have done Windows installs I don't know how many times, and it's really only hard if you eff up the partitians, or have a bad CD and that effs up the process.

I didn't really understand most of your first paragraph, but since Bootcamp is a Apple Inc. piece of software, it should not be that hard. Installing XP is pretty easy after the partitioning is done. Thank you so much for helping me out guys!

Don't forget all those drivers for windows as well, those on leopard cd is alright but you might need to update the video driver, the GMA x3100 new driver can be download from the intel page.
