And movies aren't, amirite?
At least I can give credit to EA (the ONLY time I'll give credit to them) for kicking back with a fistful of logic.

Anyone else notice the stupid idiot said you get to choose how you have sex?
Edit: Wow, watched the whole thing; I wonder how many gallons of sewage your mother had to drink to be eligible to be on that panel. Talk about a bunch of zarking retards.

well I'm not trying to defend them but I mean it is FOX News...when don't they blow crap out of proportion.
Only difference is now the person they are deciding to attack is fighting back.
If I was EA I would have foregone the request for a retraction and gone right for the lawsuit. They would have never seen it coming.

EA is angry with them.
When EA gets angry, companies get shut down.
I hope EA pulls out the big guns and uses their immense funding to completely shut Fox down. Or to just buy Fox and then fire the employees in question.

The reason for the attack on Fox is the way that they presented their bit on the game itself. They were completely wrong about the facts of the game and the only way to look credible was to bring in that guy from Spike TV, who they tried to shut up when he was starting to speak the truth. I expected a much harsher reaction from EA tbh.

IMO it's an alternate source of news .... news with a different viewpoint then the same old tripe put out by the other 'Network' news outlets.
I won't comment on the game. Haven't played it.
|
Why do people hate Fox News so much? Isn;t that obvious? They don't report news, they report editorial; they spout opinion on the news. That's not balenced news. When they advertise a balenced news station.
I personally cant stand CNN, OR Fox News. CNN can be just as bad. I perfer BBC, or NPR news. They tend to be just the story, and no fluff tryign to explain it to unintelligent apes.
Have not played Mass Effect because I don't have a, xBox, and it's not ported to PC. But from what I HAVE seen, the susposed "sex" scene is like 60 seconds of an encounter, but you only really see some butt crack, and maybe 5 seconds of side boob. So, like, it's really not porn at all. I mean, you see more on some of the TV Dramas these days. Which any young boy can tune to, ya know?

huh???? NPR is Radio's version of PBS, Its mostly funded though pledge drives and and grants.
"According to the 2005 financial statement, NPR makes just over half of its money from the fees and dues it charges member stations to receive programming, although some of this money originated at the CPB itself, in the form of pass-through grants to member stations. About 2% of NPR's funding comes from bidding on government grants and programs, chiefly the Corporation for Public Broadcasting; the remainder comes from member station dues, foundation grants, and corporate underwriting. Typically, NPR member stations raise about one-third of their budget through on-air pledge drives, one-third from corporate underwriting, and one-third from grants from state governments, university grants, and grants from the CPB itself."
Even if it was funded with taxpayer money, wouldn't that mean that the propaganda they are spreading would favor the government, hence forth leaning to the right just like FOX News?
But to answer your question.
No one on that panel played the game, no one contacted the ESRB (they even said so) to figure out why it was only rated M. No one even mentioned the fact that you have to be 17+ to buy that game. No on mentioned the fact that the Average age of Video Game players is 33. Hell no one even had the forethought to contact EA, and even for Geoff Keighley who was there to provide actual info on the game got like 30 seconds of time, and was constantly cut off.
It is the duty of any journalist (regardless of who they work for) to go through and report all the facts and do the research instead of going off and reporting things as truth because you heard it some where. That my friend is called Slander, and and more than likley it's also in print so thats Libel.
That is why FOX News is taking heat.

Neither have Fox; they simply made up something to get a story out. (Ironically it's actually advertising Mass Effect, but that doesn't mean they should get away with it.) This is why Jeff Brown is angry at them (and is hopefully summoning some of EA's vicious Dire Lawyers).

Did you think this through at all before posting?
News Corp (of which FOX is a subsidiary) dwarfs anything that EA will ever hope to be. If a court battle were to occur, you can be sure that Rupert Murdoch will out-attorney anyone that EA could afford to retain.
Also, the lobby for television and film is enormous. The video game industry hasn't reached that level yet.

ROFLMAO! Very few journalist (if any) live up to that standard (reagrdless of who they work for). Current day news media is about drawing an audience and making a buck.
Anyway .... I've taken this too far off topic, even for an off topic thread, so I will quietly back out of the snake pit and look for the nearest exit.

honestly the beginning of that clip makes me want to start playing again.
and, as always, the discussion degraded to ppl who had no idea about video games talking about how its impossible to control what kids play. /cough rating blocker /cough.

ROFLMAO. It's failures like this who believe the video gaming industry is the most powerful thing in the world who make me lose faith in the schooling system. Fox is only a subsidary, and therefore could swallow EA games whole.

That is so f****ing hypocritical it is not even funny. First off, you can tell, and some even admitted, they don't play video games and have no clue. And they complain about 30 seconds of ass crack and side boob, but didn't the Terminator knockoff have two people naked on a highway in the opening episode? What channel is that on again? Oh, right, FOX. And on FOX's website they have the good terminator topless with only her hair covering her chest. Besides the fact that any kid in America can see more (of the real thing even, *gasp*) at the mall than was in the game is pure stupidity.
EDIT: wanted to throw this nugget in from EA's repsonse

Do you watch the Fox Network? Do you watch Family Guy? Have you ever seen The OC? Do you think the sexual situations in Mass Effect are any more graphic than scenes routinely aired on those shows? Do you honestly believe that young people have more exposure to Mass Effect than to those prime time shows?
|
I have never seen The OC, but there is definitely a s*** load of sexual innuendo and partial nudity in Family Guy (forgot they air that also).
