THANK YOU!!!! I cant stand Nickleback 1. Because they sound the same and 2. THe lead singer sounds like he has a male reproductive organ down his throat when he sings. I cant stand Nickleback.

Any black metal. Well, I'm fine the way it is, underrated it all. You mainstream chumps wouldnt understand the surge of blasphemous power \m/
Oh, and about some things i've seen posted. Metallica and Dragonforce are way overrated, and LEd Zep aint metal.

Imo, Tool isn't underrated. Multi-platinum for all five albums they've put out (Discluding the Salival a couple years back) and pretty damn popular where I live.
Slipknot, is of course, not underrated. They're way too mainstream to be underrated.
Static-X, though one of my favorite bands, I admit don't really have an appealing sound, so I don't give them too much credit.
Honestly, of the stuff I listen to, most of it is either mainstream, or isn't mainstream for a good reason. Nothing, imo, of what I listen to is underrated.

You're post lost all credibilty when you posted Slipknot and Static-X

This Guy Possibly: Tom McRae
Tom McRae is one of those people whose voice can steal your heart. You can listen to his songs here
Sometime I am scared to listen to his song, its so very heart wrenching. not recommended for rainy or moody days. anyway, years back, his first album, are available for download online on his webpage, which is now not so anymore, I guess he's probably more famous now.
Here's a video: A Day Like Today, it use to be on a webpage that you can watch, but I can't find it, luckily youtube has it still. Absolutely adore the music and how the video is done.
OMG! I love him hehehehe I am listening to him singing My Vampire Heart on youtube now.

Led Zeppelin set the foundations of metal music thats why they'll always be one of the most distinctive rock bands of all time. Dragonforce are crap live, just check them out on youtube, they cant play through fire and flames even 5% like it, the lead singer doesnt even have a good voice, total crap, good studio work thou. Kirk Hammet is the reason why Metallica are so well rated but they are technically the biggest metal band in the world so you cant knock that, not underrated or over in my opinion just abit of both.

Underrated: Year of No Light, Arachnotaur, Wormphlegm
But the only people who would agree are the people who stroke their human horn to doom metal.
Also, I don't see how a rock band set the foundations for metal music.

Then you are simply ignorant. You think metal is the first form of rock music? Music is sort of like a family tree -- new forms branch out from earlier forms. It could go something like:
Jazz -> Blues -> Beatles -> Led Zeppelin -> Black Sabbath -> Death -> Metallica/Slayer/Sepultura -> all metal today
of course you could be a 'creationist' where all forms of music today were simultaneously created by a higher power just a few decades ago......

But Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin were both started in 1968... (according to Wikipedia at least, Metal-Archives says otherwise about Sabbath).

Zeppelin were the daddys. End of story.
What passes as rock/metal these days is pretty poor. Metal heads should be trashing hotel rooms on tour, not bringing the missus along for a nice sunday roast.
All these pop bands trying to pass themselves off as rockers with their lame ass tattoos are also extremely annoying. Yes, I'm talking about Sum41, Linkin Parks of this world etc
Slayer to this day still remain the daddy of thrash metal.

You must be very young or you would know that we mention Led Zeppelin in context with metal because they are considered one of the main contributors to the birth of the genre!

The point being not who was actually first but that both bands were major instigators of the metal that followed later!

How did you think new genres of music were birthed - single cell division? - Music through the ages have been one long string of genres and musicians influencing each other leading to the creation of new "sounds"!

In all honesty, I think that very early blues influenced pretty much everything you hear nowadays. From pop to black metal, the same chords and scales are used, probably changed a lot since then, but they still influenced pretty much everything going around. Oh yeah, I also wanna add Chuck Berry to my list even though I have only heard one of his songs (guess which ) I keep hearing little licks and riffs from it cropping up every now and again in songs I listen to, so maybe he deserves credit.
