Default Completely off topic aka Game Note Taking

So I'm playing this game Sentinel (gasp! blasphemy! you should be playing guild wars) but anyway I've never had to do so much note taking in all my life for a game! Now, I'm undecided if this is a good thing or bad thing... right now it's bad because I'm bound and determined to finish the thing but the frustration level is high. So I took a pic of the notes I've taken below. There's a back to each side of these papers. I'm just wondering what other games you've played that you've taken extensive notes or had to draw out maps for.

P.S. Yes, I know my drawing skills are leet. thanks

No game should be worth finishing that involves note taking bearing a horrifying resemblance to my math homework.

Most RPG games I take notes on, like item names, their stats, where you can find them, and if players can sell them, the price.

Also I remember playing Tom Clancey's Covert Ops, where you had to take tests and pass so your person would be better at specific things, I took notes so I would do better. :P

I very rarely take notes for a game. When I do it's because I'm doing a trial and error puzzle or something like that.

The game is all complex puzzles. Like... listening to different bird calls then finding the birdhouse to match up the different symbols to gain the next entrance. While finding the different sounds in bells and their order so that you can open up a door.

Or figuring out the correct length and color of a sequence of ropes in order to raise a platform.

Recording symbols found on bridges so that you can turn them the correct way from a tower.

You get the point. Have to do notes.

I'm actually suprised more aren't saying they do! I remember my brother doing detailed maps for some games like 10+ years ago and the floor would just be covered with them.

I remember years ago playing Myst, on the Playstation. Had to take TONS of notes to figure out puzzles and remember where certain items were so you could go back for them. My husband and I finally started a whole new notebook for it, because every time we needed something, that particular paper was missing.

It was a TON of fun tho :P

Well I always have paper laying around just in case I have to take notes on one thing or another.

I think back in the good ol' day when I played Runescape I took notes and recorded things I saw or read. Sometimes even planning out what I will be doing o__________o

My bro, sis and I all played thru the Myst series and we took quite a few notes for those games - and other puzzle games like them. Nothing nearly as extensive as those tho....

What's the big deal about note taking? I take notes all the time in GW. For instance, in every outpost I write down how many steps it takes to get from storage to merchant. Or in AB I take note of the average time it takes to enter a game for each map at different hours of the day (finding a game midweek at 2am when the map is Keys and you're Lux takes approximately 7 minutes). I also take notes on what each hero and henchie say during battle and how often they say it. I've recently started taking notes on the average of how many people are in every district of Kamadan at certain times of the day. Most of all, I take notes on every time there's an internet argument and I write down what they're saying word for word, then before I go to sleep I go over their argument, study it, analyze it, use it to better myself both spiritally and intellectually.

Onimusha. At a point in the game you have to solve a puzzle to free yourself before you drown in the water. So I took 12 small boxes, laid them on the floor and tried different combinations and after a day or two I knew it by heart .
But it's the only game that forced me to do something like that.

yeah puzzle games, especially ones that dont have journals or logs built-in can result in a lot of note taking, this goes way back. For me, Doom 3 had me taking a lot of locker combo notes, and Silent Hill 3 had combo locks and things you had to match up.

These things are quite different than the point click kill of most action games, and different rewards.
