Heh, I guess I'll get in on this action:
1) "LOTR is ripoff of King Arthur, 40K+Starship Troopers are ripoffs of Star Wars and Dune..." You see where this is going? And GW isn't anymore original than WoW.
2) Only one plot? I guess I can understand that since they are all essentially the same in each campaign: Big bad guy threatens to destroy world, heroes save it. The end. Of course, it's what happens in between that matters, along with all the characters in such.
The plot in WoW is your story. The characters in the story are your friends, guildmates, and enemies. The story is much more up to you, the player, than it is the devs.
There are also pretty cool themes throughout the WoW universe, like the questchains that become linked to some of WoW's currently most evil bad guys.
3) Guild Wars isn't free, just cheaper.
4) Grind is pretty subjective. As of right now, I'm lovin' the quests that have me go around a farm, killing peasants, and collecting their skulls >: )
5) The graphics are one of WoW's biggest selling points. The better the graphics are, the more inaccessible the game becomes: Since the graphics are not terribly high-end, the game is able to be ran on older computers for people who can't afford a completely up-to-date machine.
Both look pretty good in terms of design, though. Win-win here.
6) This experience varies. For me, I've experienced less idiots on WoW than in GW. This is mostly due to luck, though, my servers are awesome. But likewise, I know people who have had *horrible* experience with WoW but awesome ones with GW in terms of player interaction.

1) Its relevant as blizzard have NEVER produced an original game in thier history. All of them have been rip offs of other games. EG warcraft a ripoff of warhammer and LOTR, starcrap a ripoff of warhammer 40k and starship troopers.
|
And yet all of Blizzard's games own. You know, it's not call copying these days, it's call "being inspired by". Are you going to bitch at Japanese people for improving the inventions? Seriously, do you think GW is based on nothing but imagination? Where the hell did Dwarves come from?
Quote:
They want to create something new and original and they did.
|
That originality is being replaced by a WOW clone for GW 2, want to keep going?
Quote:
2) Yes GW story was original and if you had actually played the game and took any notice. You would of learned that there is actualy only ONE plot that covers all three chapters. The plot of ETON was sperate. So there are two end of the world plots not four. But at least GW HAS a plot unlike wow. If you have played any RPGs you would of found most of them are about the same things.
|
Guild Wars has one of the worst stories I've ever encounter in any RPG. Seriously, NOX had a fantasy, child-dreamland kind of story, and even THAT was more interesting than GW story. GW story is so god damn predictable and didn't keep anyone on his or her toes. The ending was either retarded, unoriginal, or already expected.
Heroes saving the world from a big bad guy is an original story? Have you ever read any books at all? Wait, why did I even bother to ask. Someone with your intelligence wouldn't understand books anyway.
Quote:
3) As you have to buy wow when you start too and THEN pay to play. Where as you only have to buy GW and then its free. As you well know. So how about you look up pedantic in the dictionary. wow so you pay $15 a month to have gms ignore you for weeks on end and a crappy auction house. Thanks but I would rather have the FREE anet support and the FREE trade party search.
|
Really, so why the hell is this website bugged with complains and QQs toward Anet? Seriously, you get what you paid for. You know, since you are so obsessed about this whole money issue, why don't you not turn on your PC, save electricity.
Quote:
4) Have you actually ever played wow at all. As its nothing BUT grind for start to finish. ALL the quests are the same its just go here and kill X of Y or Get X of Y by killing Z. Once you get to max lvl then you go grind raids to get better gear so you can go grind the next raid.
|
At least the grind in wow actually give you LEVELS and MONEY THAT CAN BUY WEAPONS THAT DOESN'T BLOW. In GW it's way MORE grind to max titles, and you don't get crap other than showing it to no one that cares in town. WOO SO MUCH BETTER!
Quote:
5) Sorry but when your graphics look like thier drawn by a blind 3 year old in crayon. There is nothing subjective about it. And no wow does NOT have more varied design.
|
Wow never tried to go for realism. If GW graphic owns so much, why does all the male models look like shit? WTF is up with the reskins? What about all those armor clippings and crappy spell graphics?
Quote:
6) By your replies I very much doubt you have played either game so you have no idea about the players therein.
|
By your replies, I very much doubt you are even beyond grade 4 with your maturity and intelligence, just shush.
Quote:
7) Right so if wow pvp was so balanced before why is it only now after they have seen how sucessfull GW has been with PVP tournaments that they just started them.
|
If GW was so successful why did it come out after WOW has been uber kickass?
Dude, just stop arguing with these idiots. They like to think that GW is better in their fantasy world, let them. No amount of evidence or facts will change their stubborn little minds.
And they keep dodging the fact that WOW has WAY more players than GW because all they can say is "people who play WOW are retarded" when their own posts are corrupt with horrid spellings.

Inactive. I don't have enough time for WoW nowadays.
Plus Brawl in less than a month will consume all my remaining free time.

gw fanboys are the worse
the whole gw vs. wow doesn't even exist in the WoW universe..feel free to check the wow forums or ask around in game. ive found wow players really dont give a shit about gw or know much about it
both games are difficult to compare since they are so different...it would be nice if people just gave up on the whole gw/wow debate
btw anyone who feels blizzard makes crappy games must not know what they are talking about

GW2 has been stated to include the following:
-Z Axis which includes jumping and swimming
-Multiple races to play as
-Higher/Endless level cap
These are just a few of the things that make people think GW2 will base a lot off of World of Warcraft.

You can't really say which is better because this is another glaring difference between the two games. Guild Wars has a plot, WoW's plot is what you make it. Different situations for different folks, neither are better.

How about you go get a brain and try thinking but I guess that would be to hard for you
|
GM's aren't there for people to complain about. They're there for in-game help, both with gameplay glitches or harrassment. With GW you have to use the /report feature and wait a while for the person to be notified, with a GM in WoW it's instant. Same with glitches: If something happens you can send in a ticket in-game and they get back to you shortly. I'd gladly pay a monthly fee to have something like that in Guild Wars.

Guild Wars is a successful RPG, that is true. Successful MMO? Not so much. Even Lineage I and II are likely to have more active players than GW.

GW fanboys always get pwnd lol
I like both games. I can see the advantages and disadvantages of playing both games.
+ WoW has better PvE once you get passed the 'collect xx amount' quests etc
+ GW requires next to no grind to play
+ GW PvP is better
+ WoW in general has a better community
+ GW doesn't require l33t items
+ GW requires less hours to achieve something
+ WoW rewards you better for your achievements
The list goes on..

WoW didn't introduce new ideas, it just tried to improve on old ones. For me, I am tired of seeing the same concepts over and over again. For almost every new MMO that comes out, the hype goes that this game will be different or better, but in reality its the same stuff served on a different plate. The same situation occured with WoW, except WoW did have one unique characteristic: it was extremely casual friendly.
Guild Wars had the same hype about it as every other MMO, but it actually delivered a completely unique game that was actually fun.
In relevance to the whole WoW PvP vs. GW PvP, I think there are two important difference that makes GW PvP better: no gear dependence, and extreme variation in possible specializations. Right now I can create a new PvP character, give him the best gear and play a RA match all in under 5 minutes, and so can any other person who owns GW, and thats the beauty of it: GW offers an even playing field for both noobs and pros where skill and intelligence (and of course a little luck) determine victory. Also, I can create a mesmer that can obliterate melee characters, or I can make one that can kill casters, both of these characters are the same class, but have vastly different strengths and weaknesses. This means that classes in GW are not bound to strict and overused rock-paper-scissors concepts, but due to the limited eight skill slots, balance is still maintained.
In WoW, gear and which class you are fighting against determines who wins. In order to achieve the same level playing field as GW offers where skill and intelligence determines who wins, two players must have the same gear as each other. But since that obviously never happens, a level playing field and therefore balance is never achieved. In addition, due to the rigid strengths and weaknesses of each class, every fight against the same class is extremely similar. This leads to boredom, repetitiveness and grind, which is exactly what PvP isn't supposed to be.

while gear and class play a role in who wins skill is by far the most important thing. Me and my roomate used to very well in 2v2 as hunter/rogue with greens
You get pvp gear through pvp'ing...as long as you run your 10 matches a week in arena and play some bg's here and there(double av weekend ftw) you should have decent pvp gear in no time

Have to disagree slightly. Even in GW you have to unlock stuff before you can PvP.
Before you can use a certain rune/insignia/inscription etc you have to unlock it via balth faction, or PvE.
An experianced player can roll a perfect PvP char in 5mins, a newbie can't.

I just want tell you all......... WOW PLAYERS HATE THE IDEA, I HAVE TALKED TO THEM. THEY HATE THE IDEA OF GOING TO LEVEL 70 STRAIGHT AWAY AND GETTING EPIC WEAPONS STRAIGHT AWAY.(Trust me I have talked to them)
WoW players like to 'grind' and earn stuff through hard work, they don't like getting things straightaway so that they can focus on pvp, pvp(I mean high level pvp) is somesort of reward for getting max levels.
