Well, I know what Loki was talking about. A good console can last you 4-5 years, a good pc can last you what...2-3 years? I'm lucky that I can afford to keep my pc up to date and since I use Mac for work, my pc is pretty much only use for games these days, I also have the Wii and 360. The Wii is a social console for the house party, dinner etc, and the 360 is pretty much for me.
Some game works best on certain platform more than the other, and some game only release on a certain platform as well. I might get a PS3 when MGS4 or FF13 comes out, or for the reason that it's pretty cheap for a blueray player.
I can't see myself sitting infront of the pc and play GTA4 as much as I cant see myself playing GW on the big telly downstair.

Sounds to me that you switched to consoles cause you're kinda mis/uninformed about how much a decent pc actually costs.

Australian pricing, and not ordered online, since I don't do that for PC parts. Having shit like my video card turn up DOA put me off buying PC parts online. $2000 was a fairly modest dual core PC and decent monitor. And as I said, I can afford it. I'm not really complaining about that price, just the fact that I would rather do other things with that money.

Ah. I guess prices may be a bit different down there. Even so though, 2k still does sounds a bit high. As for things coming doa.. I guess it all depends on your luck and where you buy from. Myself, i've bought pc parts almost exclusively online, for my own builds and for others, since 2003. In almost 5 years i've only had 1 doa item. Personally i don't think doa is a huge thing to worry about. Perhaps australian shipping is even rougher on boxes than the US is, lol. I dunno.

About the game, its amazing, definitely my favorite game of '07, its only competitor being COD4. If your computer can run it, get it for PC, if not, get it for 360, still worth the purchase. I personally just think FPS's handle better on PC when compared to consoles.
